Ruger, S&W and now Springfield are my short list of makers to never buy guns from again.
I'll still buy SA stuff but they'll come from the same place as my Smiths and Rugers: the used or consignment cases. That way the shop or owner gets the money and not the corporation.

So how long until you work out how to convert one of them into a .41 Mag? :D

How are you able to run all of them without changing the ejector?  I've always been told the .38 Super and 9mm won't work with the .45 ejector.

There are exactly four operations that are difficult in building an AR IMHO.  Bolt catch pin, trigger guard pin, forward assist pin and gas block pin.
And if you go with a billet lower some of them have an integral trigger guard eliminating that pin.  Some are also starting to use small hex screws for the bolt catch pin and even the safety detent spring so you don't have to worry about the spring flying out when removing the endplate (BTDT... ::) :)) )

Thanks sql, that makes sense and I can kind of picture it now.

I was taught releasing the slide on a 1911 with an empty chamber was a no-no because it could affect a trigger job.  I still don't quite understand how that could be but that's what I was taught and what I stick with even on non-1911s as much as possible.

I might not be as careful with my personal weapons but if it belongs to someone else it's gets handled with kid gloves until the owner tells me not to.  I don't even intentionally let the bolt slam home on someone else's empty AR...

I got the rifle as a Christmas gift about three years ago and never fired it at anything live. We actually did do some target shooting on July 4th to test BB vs Pellets (pellets are much more accurate). I see now it is discontinued, but mine is this one and I use it just the way it come with iron/fiber sights:

Ha, I grew up with one of those in my hands!  Got it as a Christmas gift either 1979 or 1980 and that was when they were still using the pot metal "receiver".  That thing went all over our deer lease and all through our neighborhood (and the cops were never called on me AFAIK).  My Grandfather borrowed it in the mid-90s and finally wore it out killing squirrels in his backyard.  I was out of state when he bought a replacement for me and I was stunned to see the new ones were being made with plastic bodies.  It still works the same, probably shoots better and the 5 round pellet holder is a nice addition but I sure miss the heft of the old metal one.

Ear holed him!  Irons or glass?  Details!  We need equipment details! :D

Just a word of caution....
Rats are smart. They don't willingly expose themselves to danger, such as lingering in the open for any length of time. If one, or several are doing that, something is wrong, with the rats. Rabies and other communicable diseases can cause them to do that.
So can one that's already been poisoned but doesn't know it's dead yet.  Several years ago someone in our neighborhood had rats and I killed 2-3 in our garage that staggered in after getting into the poison.

my_old_glock, for whatever reason I didn't even think about the 9x23 pressure. ???  I did find an article saying Rowland claims 40-45K PSI and the author's estimated loads in Quickload were running 43-50K.

DM1906, thank you for the detailed info!  It really explains and clears up a bunch of things I didn't even know I needed to ask about!

Yeah I figured that out but it was late and I think my post ended up more stream of consciousness than technical! ???

So not only do you have the slop from the wider slide, but a 9mm extractor would effectively have an even shorter reach because of the wider breech face.  Or at least that's how my brain is perceiving this.  And I bet it's also why I haven't read of anyone using the 9mm extractor.

I like the idea of a hot, flat shooting 9 and I sure wish the .960 Rowland didn't sound like it's running at a super high pressure.  Isn't it basically duplicating the 9x23 but with the 9x19 COAL?  That's got to be some hellacious pressure.

OK, I guess I need to run all the way down this rabbit hole before my mind will move along to something else.  Using a G21 or G30 (not 30S), would require swapping the .45 extractor for a 10mm each time you wanted to run the 9x23 barrel.  A better solution (in my mind) would be to spend the extra for a complete 10mm slide and set it up as the 9x23. Or 9x23 and 10mm and have 3 calibers from 2 slides.

Which brings another question to my mind.  Would a solid longslide or lightened longslide be prefereable?  Or just a regular 10mm slide?

And if the 10mm extractor is just OK at grabbing the case (but better than the .45 extractor), can a 9mm extractor be used in the 10mm slide?  I have absolutely ZERO clue on what extractor will work in which slide other than the parent caliber so if that's a square peg in a round hole suggestion, feel free to point and laugh... :D
