Reloading / Re: Midway USA problems

the only problem I've had with Midway is their expensive shipping.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: Went Overboard on 10MMs

impressive collections! I only have two 10mm pistols. a Witness and an XDm. sadly, I don't get to shoot them enough. I don't know what I do if I had more.

Factory 10mm ammo / Re: PSA ammo

that is a good deal! especially if you re-used the brass.

thanks for the video mr.lrevolverguy.
Winchester Big Bore still looks unimpressive (other than the accuracy) to me. it should have been getting those velocities out of the 5" bbl.! maybe if they loaded it with a softer bullet it would make a good S.D round but I wouldn't use it in big bear country!
looks like those of us who want magnum performance out of our 10mm pistols still have to reload or buy "boutique" ammo.

I love the CZ 82/83! satin nickel! wow, I bet that is a sharp looking pistol! I bought a bunch of them when they first hit the surplus market. mine are all 9x18 82s but the only difference is the chambering. some of the export 83s have a different trigger guard. (not round) they are very reliable, pleasant to shoot and accurate pistols. most of the time, unless I'm in bear country, one of them is my EDC. even when hunting. I have dispatched lots of wounded game and livestock and even took a small hog at around 30 yds. with one shot. the 9x18 is a little more power than the .380 but not by much. you will have an excellent carry pistol! enjoy.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: Go to choice for XTP bullets

don't feel rained on. I can't post pictures here either.
as far as the push for velocity in the 10mm, for me anyway he 10mm is magnum revolver performance in a semi auto handgun.

you came to the right place for all kinds of 10mm info! I have learned a LOT here!

good video Mr.Revolverguy. too bad another disappointing factory 10 mm round. why don't these ammo companies just start using Long Shot instead of their wimpy factory powders and get "real 10 mm velocity" ammo? heck, I can get 1070 fps. out of a 200 gr..45 acp bullet using Unique! (and .45 Super brass for safety) I wonder how long Winchester's test barrel is to get 1200 fps out of that wimpy load? my 200 gr. JHP 10mm with 9 gr. of Long Shot chrono around 1200 fps out of the 4.5" XDm and 1170 out of the 4" Witness bbls. they must be testing out of a carbine barrel!

dang! almost $2. a pop! I'm sure glad I can reload!

just guessing here but I would think that a 155 gr. hollow point would open up too quickly and lack the penetration for anything larger than humans or small whitetails.

my 10mm pistols are for hunting so I like the 200 gr. bullets. I do shoot a lot of 180 gr. cast bullets for practice but that's because I can't find an affordable 200 gr. bullet mold.

wow! I hope everything works out. nothing worse can happen to a shooter than loss of vision!

O.K. here are some representatives of my loads
180 gr. HST bullet 10gr Long Shot. chronos 1240 fps out of my Witness and 1262 out of my XDm.180 gr. cast bullet 10gr Long Shot, 1241fps out of the Witness, 1300 fps from the XDm.
200 gr. plated bullet 9 gr. Long Shot 1145fps from the Witness, 1193 fps from the XDm, 200 gr Nosler JHP 9gr Long Shot 1180 from the Witness, 1206 fps from the XDm. 200gr FMJ 9 gr. Long Shot 1184 from the Witness, 1192 fps from the XDm.
I have data for other bullet weights also but rather than me write it all out, I'll tell you where I got it from. the "pull down" thread on this forum. if you like 10mm loads that are not just hot 40 S&W loads, this is an excellent source of data.

Long Shot is my favorite 10mm powder. I like em hot. I won't list my loads, but I got most of them from the pull-down section on this forum. they are all higher than any "book" loads I've seen. because of the hot climate where I am, I backed off a little on some of the hotter Swamp Fox data.

General Discussion / Re: Lyman turret press
April 24 2023 02:52:39 PM MDT
interesting! I wish I could post a picture, but my 1980 Lyman turret press looks different than oldman10mm's. mine has a totally different arm mechanism. it's a lever like a common single stage press.
