Have a couple decent loads with CFE Pistol, 155 XTP's from a Sig. P220,

gr.      FPS      ES       SD
8.2  - 1236     32,    13.12
8.4   - 1265    22,     7.74
8.6  - 1282    32,     12.31
8.8 -  1311     44,    14.31
9.0 -   1329    36,    13.78
9.2  -   1360    50,   17.59

Then with Nosier 135 JHP  (fired from a RI FS HC) (top 2 rounds, a lot less kick then excepted)

10.0 - 1503 - 62 - 19.3
10.2 - 1532 - 52 - 17 (707 Ft.Lbs)

With the Extreme 200 gr. RNFP HBCP I have had VERY GOOD numbers with 800X. I seem to get higher then stated fps from 800X, but no abnormal pressure signs. From the RIA and Sig., most ES less then 30 (OK, one 42, one 36, 2 @ 21, rest under 20!!), and this is with 10 different loads! Many SD in the single dig.   Blue Dot did OK, not great. Trying CFE this time too.

With Power Pistol (10 gr), in my RIA I get 1321 fps with a Extreme 165 RNFP HBCP, COL 1.255. Lots of flash and noise, but that is PP! ES 37, SD 11.9. This is a good round to get attention at a range!

11.5 gr. Blue Dot (RIA) gives me 1264fps, (COL: 1250), ES 79, SD 25.02 (more then I like!!)

9.0 gr. BE-86 (Sig P220) gives me 1268 fps, (COL: 1.255), ES 63, SD 20 (again, I like to see a ES less then 50, and a lower SD)

Have been testing 155 XTP's and Nosier 135's, and all I can say is WOW! Many VERY good loads with power Pistol, BE-86, Blue Dot, and CFE Pistol. PP had the fastest speeds, very good ES & SD, BUT a LOT of flash and noise!

Got some Nosier 200's ready to go now for when the rain stops!

Reloading / Re: 357 SIG....
November 23 2017 09:36:52 AM MST
I have found many 'small' flash holes' in 357 sig brass, and have bent several de-primer pins! yes, very aggravating! I started de-priming all brass I buy first with a universal de=primer. Stronger pins! Then - Do like most, after de-priming, drill out the hole! Find a drill bit that fits any other larger flash hole, just don't go too large! Next time with this brass it will be easy. In the different forums you will much reloading talk on the 357 sig. Much useful advise.

Most of my reloads I keep in the 500 ft lb range, 124/5 gr at 1300-1450 fps. Feel this is the normal range for most commercial non-'hot' loads. I have gotten up to 1500 fps, and even though the ES & SD were good, felt it was more then needed. A heavier spring may help (didn't have one at the time, do now)

As far as the shell holder issue, I just use 40 shell holders, all makes, no mods to any of them!

fltbed, question, what 155 gr bullets you using?   I just ordered a 1000 for 40's, but they are not heavy plated, so will not use them on 10's, as they WILL be over 1200 fps.

With my OLD eyes accuracy is hard, easier going over a Choney. Want to believe that a good ES & SD will give good accuracy (will in theory). Power Pistol does best with lighter bullets, light to Med. loads in most calibers.

I have not tried 155 gr yet, but got a 1000 on order. Will try with PP first.

On the 180's with BD, 10.4 was my best load too, 1156 fps, ES: 34, SD: 12.44 (these #'s are after deleting one flyer, 1114 fps). 10.2 close behind it. With 200 gr. bullets 800X did the best. 800X don't do as good with the lighter bullets, but figured it wouldn't, does best heavier bullets and loads. Meters like corn flakes too. I like 800X in magnum loads (does real well in 357 Mag. & 44 Mag. heavier bullets)

Best BD with 200 gr. was 9.4, 1058 fps., ES 42, SD 16.83. Might be a good woods load.

I've just tried PP & BD for 10mm so far, but will expand shortly. Have CFE Pistol & 231 I'm looking at.

Most of my brass is mixed. As just to shoot, not worried about it. For primers, settled on Winchester WLP. So I don't need to match the primer to a powder.  (I buy my SD rounds, don't 'make' them)

I'm using Heavy plated.  (RNFP HPCB)  I use a Lyman or RCBS digital powder measure. I do check the weights every so often with a RCBS 5-0-5 and RCBS 750 scale. On some powders the ES and SD vary by large numbers, so I just find what MY gun likes, and go with it. As I have 3 10's, I'm not going to load for each, but looking for what does decent in all.

Also using Xtreme 180 gn with Power Pistol, with VERY good results. I crimp in a separate step, on the heavy side.  My 8.4 load matches the GA 180 FMJ load. COL of 1.255 on all.

Low        High        Averag.    Energy       PF:         ES      SD
8.2   1124   1150   1135.2   515.6   204.4   26    8.16       1134   1150   1128   1139   1131   1140   1124   1139
8.4   1116   1173   1150.3   527.7   206.8   57   19.15           1136   1116   1140   1163   1139   1165   1159   1173
8.6   1153   1184   1168.0   545.5   210.3   31   11.15           1163   1181   1184   1169   1167   1173   1153   1155

I have not tried Red Dot, but have Blue Dot. Wasn't real happy with the results.

General Discussion / 357 Sig., do it more!
November 13 2017 11:59:40 AM MST
Another 357 Sig fan here!!  Have 357 sig barrels for all my Sigs!

Reloading, once you know the set-up is just as easy as any other round. And cost the same too (brass may cost more, BUT after first load, that is a wash).

Guess I'll respond too!  I'm Jerry, 64 years young, and have been shooting for a LONG time, off & on. New to 10's (about a year & half ago) with a RIA FS. Now have 3, added another RIA FS HC and a Sig. P220.

Lived in FL for most of my life, but now reside in North Carolina, where I plan on STAYING!

Have the FS and FS HC. On the FS, Wilson Combat 9 round mags work well.  On the FS HS, last outing  found the back sites ready to fall off! Easy to re-secure, BUT not a good thing. Will be watching them close!

I prefer my Sig. P220 to the RIA's, but then I like DA/SA guns. BUT in a 'situation', the RIA FS HC with 16 rounds will be what I want!

Got the two tone DA/SA, and like it very much, better then my 2 RIA's. But then I'm a DA/SA person! I don't have but about 300 rounds through it now, as been shooting something else, but will be working on my '500' on it soon.

I have tried the 45 cal 10 round mag. Even after disassembling, clean & lube, on the first round bullet 'nose-dives' and hangs up. A hit on the bottom of the mag fixes, with everything else working normal. But with fac. 10mm mags, works every time!

FYI, after my last session with the RIA FS HC found the back sites ready to fall off! Very easy to re-secure, but still not good!

Good seeing so many of these on here! My P220 came yesterday! Got the two-tone one too. I like it better then the Dark Earth. Only got to put 52 rounds (not very hot ones, that will be next visit) through it at lunch today!  Like it better then my RIA's!  Only gripe, trigger needs to get better! When it matches my P227 I'll be VERY happy! Otherwise, this thing is BUILT! SOLID!

I did get a P220 45 10 round mag and tried it! Worked perfect EXCEPT when inserted, slide didn't release (sling-shot) until I gave it (mag) a smack. So know this mag needs to be driven home. Also the two original mags drag (tight) when inserting/removing. Hope they loosen up and start dropping out!

Range reports / New to 10MM
April 12 2016 01:16:30 PM MDT
After much thinking and debating, 1911, and/or 10MM (didn't have either, so it was two-for-one), decided to get a Rock Island Ultra FS 10MM. I wanted a High Capacity, but was unable to find, so settled on a standard. I picked it up from my LLC, took it home and de-oiled! I like the feel but grips felt a little aggressive. As I wasn't feeling that great that week, took it out Friday afternoon just to run a box of PMC 200gn. (box says 1050 fps)(all I had) through it. Did very well with the exception of grips BITE, brass is thrown 25-30 feet, and left a brass mark on the slide. Have read about this, and ordered a flat bottom Firing Pin Stop. After some fitting, very little change! Not noticeably!

Picked up some more bullets, Georgia Arms 180gn, (listed at1100 fps, measured at 1150 fps), and with a new spare mag. AND a new Wilson Combat '9', ran another 50 through it after a long session shooting 357 Mags. Well, VERY rough on the hands! I had ordered a Hague grip and some other panels (rubber) which installed the rubber panels for now, and better. Other wise everything ran as it should, NO problems (other then chasing brass). Very happy with it so far. Got some "Defender" ammo, says 1100 fps, measured at 1060, noticeable difference then the GA. Will find some 'full power' shortly (200 gn), finish breaking it in, and enjoy. Not looking for the 'HOT", but better then this!

As far as fit and finish, for the price, very happy! A few sharp edges.

I think it is going to be fun reloading for this one! But need to keep it factory for the first couple hundred rounds. Thinking some 200 or 220 gn. Have ordered some Extreme 165 & 180 Heavy plated (for practice rounds)
