General Discussion / Re: Bought a blem

Off the top of my head it is the safety lever sits too low towards your hand when engaged. If it does I haven't minded. And there is supposedly some file mark on the left side trigger guard at the top. I don't see it.

I bought 500 rounds of the Sig FMJ ammo to break it in. Only gone through the second 50bso far. Had some feed issues the first box but only one the second box. I like mine. Just wish it didn't fling the brass with such force that they bounce forward of the shooting area where I can't recover them.
What blemish does your have? Or do you even know yet? Hopefully it is so insignificant as to not be noticible.

My silverback is a "blemish" too. Doesn't bother me any. Can't even understand why they knocked $600 off the price but am glad they did! Great gun.

This Bruin owner fixed his on his own, same exact problem on my gun with pictures.

Based on the photo in my previous post, the FTRBs were being caused by the bottom edge of the breechface/front edge of the cartridge pickup rail being too sharp, the sharp edge was digging into the next round. It comes from the factory with a 45 degree chamfer, but the edges were still too sharp. I smoothed it out slightly with 600 grit sandpaper and greased the cartridge pickup rail heavily.

Thanks for that information.

OK, got it back and hit the range. Ran 190 rounds and had 2 premature lock backs with 2 of the 10 Buffalo Bore 180 I shot. When I cleaned it, you can see the area that they polished under the slide, its right in the middle area. Overall I am satisfied with my Bruin.
Would you mind taking a picture showing what and where they polished the slide?

Thanks,
Tim

Want to buy / Re: Sig 220, Elite Stainless, 10mm, SAO

I picked up a SAO 220 the same day I picked up a DW 1911 10 mm's .  I like the DW a lot but like the 220 more. Great gun! I got the nitro one as that is what I saw in the display. Went back a week later and they had a SS one with rosewood grips. Wish I'd gotten the SS finish one. Which did you end up getting?

I'm with Wolfie here. New Sig ammo and only fed by magazine. I am reading this on my phone so will look at the videos later.  Thanks for posting them and offering ideas.

Look at those feed ramps
In what way? When my slide hangs up the cartridge is 85% in the chamber. It would make sense at that point that the cartridge is not being allowed to slide under the extractor. Although that hadn't occurred to me.

I am having the fail to go into battery issue with a new DW silverback 10mm. I only have 50 rounds through it so far so chalked it up to break-in. I had it happen 3 times and once I dropped the magazine it went into battery. Anyone have any input? I wasn't going to worry about it until a while later in the round count.

Reloading / Re: Dillon 1050 or ???

I haven't used one, but you're right that you'd lose very little by flipping an 1050. For that volume, I'd also setup a lube die, a Dillon 1500 trimmer, and an M expander.  One pass through and cases are de-capped, pockets swaged, sized, and trimmed to uniform length. Guys I know that use the Dillon 1200/1500 trimmers don't find the need to debur since it cuts very cleanly.
I wonder how they are trimming theirs to not get a bur. My 1500 sometimes leaves a slight bur. Maybe I am moving the handle back upward too quickly not giving the cutter a chance to make enough of a pass. Anyone have any pointers for me?

Thanks,
Tim.

Wow, is that sign real? What if the roles were reversed? Would they have nothing to fear?

My perspective is one of hobby, non professional. Swaging is a necessary evil means to an end.  It is not something I enjoy but it is rewarding. So, is it worth $16 per hour to swage primer pockets..... I don't think that large. But I see your perspective. 1050 would be looking better to me in that instance.

I gave thought to a 1050. Already have a 550 but the 1 year warranty on the 1050 verses lifetime for the 650 led me to the 650. The SS 600 is great but manual.  Not too bad though. I enjoy using it.  For the 550 and 650 uniquetech has a swagger that replaces the priming system on the press to speed up the process. Though it is not an in line operation as the press will have to be restored to normal operation to reload.

Anyway, the 650 rocks!
