10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: Introducing myself

Hello Texas Andy from College Station, Texas.  I too am a self confessed 10mm junkie.  Almost all of my 10s are in the form of a Dan Wesson or Nighthawk 1911 with the exception of a Glock 20 I have.  Nice to have a fellow Texan here.

Hey Kenk
That Underwood load is a lot like the 357 Mag 125 grain load that had such a great reputation as a good defensive round.  I love Underwood loads in my 10.

I must be missing something.  I thought Nighthawks had gotten high.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: TRP 10mm

I am sorry you are having trouble with your TRP.  I bought one of the 5" and then added one with the RMR.  Both have shot exceptionally well so I suppose I am lucky.  Having said that, my Dan Wesson 10mms are nothing short of awesome, very accurate.  I also have a six inch Heine Nighthawk that will shoot the wings off a fly if I could see that well lol.  Good luck in the future with your TRPs.

I almost always carry a Dan Wesson Vbob custom in 10mm for both work and off duty.

I think some are missing the point.  Another 10mm by a major manufacture will only go toward developing more factory offerings in 10mm.  I have several 10s in 1911 form, 4 Nighthawks and three Dan Wessons with a custom DW round butt on the way yet once I looked at the TRP I bought it.  It has a real feel for quality and it is my first rail.  I may use it more as a house and car gun.

I thought Underwood 180 or 165 then found the Double Tap 155 grain Barnes Bullet.  Awesome round.  Since I carry two spares for self defense I will carry one extra mag of 155grain Barnes and one mag of 180 grain for penetration and getting the heck out of dodge  by that time.

The new Wilson Combat 10mm mags with the metal follower (47NX) function well so far in both my DWs and Nighthawks.

Factory 10mm ammo / Re: Winchester Subsonic 10mm

Hey now, I was in the FBI and you are right, most agents can't shoot 9mm very well much less the 10.  I carried 45acp as I wasn't a fan of the S&W auto at the time and I could shoot a 1911 much better.  Now my 1911s are mostly chambered for 10mm.  The subsonic would be a specialty round used for suppressed fire.  Now I really like the 135 grain Underwood or 125 grain Barnes round from Double Tap as my carry load at 1600 fps.  Backed by 180 grain spare mags.  Nothing wrong with a subsonic for the right use.

Just curious as to why no one considers the 135 grain in 10mm.  It seems it's ballistics are above the old 357 mag 125 grain ballistics and that has an awesome track record.  I have my 10s loaded with 135 grain and have one mag of 135 and another of 180 XTPs for backup.

Congrats on all your great 10mm.  I got hit with the10 bug as well.  I now have a Heine 6" NHC, a custom Falcon 5" NHC, and a Glock 20 all in 10mm.  I am thinking of a commander also and since I have two Vbobs and a Guardian from DW I am very interested in your Vbob custom.  I will say don't try a 6" 1911 10mm or you will want that also!!  I cant wait to hear about your new Vbob when you get it.  My advise, don't seek treatment just go with it!!

I haven't been able to find the new Federal trophy bonded round, however, Underwood has almost any bullet weight you want and it has bonded rounds as well.  They have great service and their ammo is top notch.
