Gear/Equipment / Re: Glock 40 MOS and SERPA CQC

For anyone who may read this thread, the Serpa CQC for the 20 fits the G40 perfectly. The G40 obviously extends out beyond the holster but that fine.

Gear/Equipment / Glock 40 MOS and SERPA CQC

I'm looking to get an OWB holster for times when I am in camp when I go backpacking. I will carry the G40 MOS in my Hill People Gear Original Kit Bag while hiking or backpacking but want to transfer it to my belt once in camp.

Will the Serpa CQC Concealment holster for the G20 work? The width of a G20 is 1.27" while the G40 is 1.28".  Not sure how precisely they are engineered and whether the G40 will fit.

I shoot almost exclusively coated bullets from MBC. I've used quite a few in my Glock 17 (9mm) with no problems. I clean it after each use.  Just bought a Glock 40 MOS (10mm) and shot several hundred rounds through it with no bulging issues some have spoken about about.  I decided to get a KKM barrel and have found that after an hour of shooting the barrel is much cleaner than was the stock glock 10mm barrel.

Frankly, I don't know if having an aftermarket barrel makes any difference but would advise, at a minimum, to scrub your Glock barrel clean after each use.

Gear/Equipment / Re: new red dot sights at shot show?

I'm sure the RMR is absolutely awesome and if cash were no object, then I'd have one tomorrow.  I ordered a Burris because I can't wrap my brain around paying more for a handgun's red dot/reflex/sights than for the handgun itself.

If you have an RMR, you have the cat's meow. Kudos.

Sweet setup NickE10!!

I have a question for you. I have a G40 MOS and just ordered the Burris FF3. When I install it, do I use the Glock screws that came with the separate cover plates or the Burris screws? Did you use blue loctite on the screws?  Any other suggestions when installing the FF3?

Are these the Dawson sights you bought? How well do they co-witness the FF3?

Thanks!

I picked up a Glock 40 last week and like it.  Good feel, good balance.  The iron sights need to be changed out and I haven't decided whether I will put a red dot/reflex sight on it.  I got the G40 as a woods gun so the red dot isn't that important.  It fits perfectly in my HPG OKB so I can access it quickly if I had to. Picked it up from a local gun shop for less than $700. That was a good price considering a different gun shop near me was selling it for $839.

I handload so I am experimenting with different loads. It's a tad embarrassing but I'm having a bit of trouble shooting the G40 accurately. That will change, by hood or by crook. I can shoot my Ruger Toklat .454 Casull  far more accurately than the G40, at least at this point.  That says more about me than it does about the G40 which I think will be tack driver once I iron out the accuracy issue.

It really is a great gun.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Plinking loads
January 22 2016 05:59:18 PM MST
I am new to 10mm but not new to reloading. I will be using my newly-purchased Glock 40 as a woods/hiking gun and will use Buffalo Bore when I carry it.

I am looking to reload light loads for plinking at the range.  I will be 170 gr SWC and 180 gr TCFP coated bullets from Missouri Bullet.  I have HS-6 and was thinking about using it as it's listed in Lymans 49th with cast bullets. I'll probably start at 8 grains of HS-6 and take it up from there.

Anything wrong with my game plan?
