10mm revolvers / ruger gp100 in 10mm
January 19 2013 11:06:08 AM MST
I really hate putting my buckeyes out on the chopping block and or moving away from the 10 mm.   I have heard that you can get ruger gp100's converted to 10mm but the cost is something like 650.00 and almost a years wait.  clements i think.   I wish ruger would just see the light and start putting out gp100's in 10 mm oh yeah and rossi a 10 mm lever gun.  OH yeah!!!! now were talking!!!!

well since i was last here i acquired another buckeye.   now that i have gotten into revolvers so much and this gun ban talk i am going to strictly revolvers and lever guns.  I know Don't Flame me but i am tired of the crap and i find that shooting revolvers and lever guns a heck of allot more fun than my semi auto's.  that being said i am going to part with my two ruger buckeyes to afford a couple of gp100's to add to my safe.  I hate to do it as these things are uber sweet but i want to consolidate calibers.

its a sad day in mudville.

Very well done.  best demonstration of the glock 20's manageability i have seen yet.

found that buckeye no turn ring on either cylinder.  Well at least until i got it.  Heck its a 10 mm had to be shot.  All i can say is i am one happy camper.  These are sweet!!!  i was thinking about getting the other cylinder set up for the 40 sw but hearing how the 38-40 perfoms i think i will try those loads first.  this buckeye is going to stay in my rotation.

i recently acquired a buckeye 38-40 10mm.  the finish is ultra nice but the really nice thing is how accurate these things are.   I recently got back into revolvers and had forgotten what a pleasure they are to shoot.   I took it out to the range to adjust the sights.  benched it off of my range bag at 12 yards.  first shot dead center...no big deal.  Next shot dead through the first and the next shot same thing.  I kept turning to my shooting buddy to make sure he was seeing the same thing i was.  My grin kept getting wider.  Now of course i began to loose it as i i was trying to make it happen instead of letting it happen.  next shot a little high to the left about 1/4 to 1/2 inch but the last two clovered.   I wish i could shot like that free hand standing....not only with the buckeye but with the g20.    My teeth are still hurting from the perma grin.   Dam they are nice.   did a poot boy trigger job and the already respectable trigger became uber nice.

Rifles / Re: 5.56 or .308
November 24 2012 07:01:35 AM MST
I am a big siaga (AK) fan myself.  I started out with the 7.62 x 39 for the usual reasons and then thought wel might as well have a .223.  I always wanted a .308 but thought the weight, recoil etc.   recently I purchase a vepr type 1 as they were cheap 599 from centerfiresystems.   these weapons are a step above any AK out there as the receivers are thicker, barrel thicker cold hammer forged and trunion reinforced.  the thumb hole stock is functional and the walnut is nice.   Now the recoil is soooo soft almost the same as the 7.62 x 39 but the accuracy stock with irons is surprising.  I went with the 20 inch barrel for noise reduction and to take advantage of added velocity.  All i can say is its a weaon that has to be seen, handled and shot to appeciate.  I am not a big on hanging stuff of my weapons but a scope will be in order as it will only enhance an already sweet shooting weapon.

Man finding a buckeye would be sweet.  still i would like to see ruger or smith put out a good DA 5 inch revolver.  i know there have been some conversions with the ruger gp100 to 10mm but dam by the time you buy the gun and get the conversion done you have over 1000 in the gun.  That is if they are still doing the conversions.

still you think lipseys would see a profit in getting ruger to do a limited run.

hmmm   maybe we should try to petition them.
