General Discussion / Re: Introduction

Greetings. and welcome to the wonderful world of the 10mm.  Was it difficult to purchase and own a pistol in Germany?  The Glock 40 is a great gun, I have one myself. Reloading is the way to go for the 10mm.  I prefer a heavy bullet moving as fast as it can.  Blue Dot gives me accurate high velocity rounds in the 10mm.

If you ever get the chance try a carbine in 10mm, flat shooter, no hold over @200yds.

Rick makes a great point here.  The fact that your pistol when fired leaves behind a different cartridge than it was designed for......an assassin may place a 38 S&W in a 357 to throw off the investigation.  Using a 40 in a 10mm could be looked on as slightly shady....just saying.  If for some terrible reason you should have to go hot, you would leave 40brass.  The police would logically look for a 40 firearm.......Did you use the 10mm to fool them.....casts some serious doubts in jurors minds.

You carry a 10mm feed it 10mm......there is a huge variety of bullet designs and weights to fit any situation you might find yourself in.   I am of the mind that a little extra speed is good in a bullet.

Greetings,
10mm or bust    Great name.  It is always good to hear from other 10mm lovers.  Like yourself, I believe a 10mm should be loaded like
a 10mm was designed to be.  My Witness would throw brass into the next county.  replaced the recoil spring with a 22lb and problem
solved.  The Glock 40 is a smooth shooting pistol.
The Dan Wesson CBOB 10mm is also a great shooter.  That Bobtail is so comfortable especially with full power loads.  You might even
think about getting a carbine, the 10mm really shines with slow powder and long barrels.  They make an AR style lower that uses
Glock mags.  the 10mm requires no hold-over @ 200yds.

General Discussion / Re: What is your 10mm carry gun ?

I am not 100% sure, but the correct answer is ....YES......a 10mm is my carry gun.  And today being Sunday, The Dan Wesson CBOB is in order.  The 10mm I have carried most would be the Glock 20.  The warm weather is cause for dressing lighter, so the G-29 is great......Glocks are not bothered by sweat anywhere near as bad as my 1911's.

My standard round is a 180gr. Gold Dot with a muzzle velocity just under 1400fps. 8)

That would indeed be a most excellent addition to the Colt line

I have been watching this thread.......I believe the answer to the question, my favorite 10mm pistol is ......YES. ;D  As previously posted, it would be like choosing which of your children is your favorite.  The G-20 was my first, and most carried.  My Dan Wesson CBOB is the best looking and most comfortable.  The list goes on, and they are all my favorites.

General Discussion / Re: G20 SF FTF hunting loads

From the information presented, I am thinking that it is possibly shooter error.  You have tried many different mechanical fixes with no luck.  The fact that it only happens with the heaviest bullets and the hottest loads reinforces the theory. Your son has no problems with the same loads.....I have spent untold amount of time on the range, and in my experience almost all Glock FTF problems are simple cases of weak wristing the Pistol.
The Glock is a light pistol and needs a firm grip and wrist to keep it running correctly.

Well you know....we were talking the legend .....so I thought I would throw in a little myth, just for the fun of it.

It has been a long time since I have shot any groups on the pistol range.....but I have knocked down steel silhouettes at 200yds. with my Glock 20

Dan10mmMan, that Silvertip load is the 41 mag equivalent of the 10mm FBI load.

A number of gunwriters were of the opinion that the ideal law enforcement round was a 200 grain .410 caliber bullet loaded to 1250 fps.  They correctly understood that the 44 magnum was way too much recoil for police work.  The .410 was selected to preclude loading the new ammo in older .400 caliber guns that would not handle the pressure, like the 38-40.

On the other end of the 41 magnum spectrum from the Silvertip round is the Buffalo Bore Heavy 265 loaded to 1350 fps and 1078 lb-ft, and a 210 grain JHP moving 1560 fps and 1135 lb-ft.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.41_Remington_Magnum

These loads illustrate they true "top end" of the 41 magnum, and the 10mm pales in comparison.

Here is an interesting article about the 41 mag:

Thank you sqlbullet, I love the 41mag, still have my first one ....that I bought decades ago.  More have joined the club over the years.  In my post I was just trying to show that in certain well known and widely accepted rounds, the 10mm has more energy.  No 10mm could hope to touch my 41mag loads. But that is a whole different story.
as an afterthought....my 41mag's will never hold 16 rounds like the 10mm.
I really enjoyed the links......thanks again
