The FPS didn't fall all the way out just enough that the slide stuck open, it was about 1/2 way down. Fitting a FPS is no big deal. I already had my custom on order and was a bit biased against the gun anyway due to the initial problem. My experience w/DW wasn't the warm fuzzy one a lot of other people talk about, it didn't take much for me to lose total interest in the gun. The guy who bought it likes it.

Yeah, unfortunately I did relate my issue on 1911forums, I don't post on that site anymore. Live and learn. At the time it was a big issue for me, it was still early in my 1911 'addiction' and felt wrong. I couldn't correlate my experience w/DW to all the other fan boyz and developed a lasting aversion to anything DW. I don't feel I'm missing out, there are a LOT of nice 1911's. I also realize it's irrational but it doesn't bother me ;D

I bought one new in '15. Did the hand racking 100's of times, used only the supplied oil. Mine locked up after 12 rounds fired, it galled pretty badly. Sent it back, they lapped it but the rails were still nasty looking. Seemed to function alright after that though the slide stop would engage all the time. While trying to work through that the
firing pin stop fell out. I got a little frustrated w/it and let it go. I have a bunch of 1911's, only 1 10mm now, a Springfield custom shop gun. I don't have any DW 1911's, I hear good things about them but have no interest in trying again.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: Montana 200gr wfnpb

I've been shooting 8.6 of LS out of my custom 1911 Springfield long slide w/the Montana 200 WFNPB.
It's hot but doesn't show excessive pressure signs but the 'Starline' on the case is getting harder to see as it's been hammered into the breachface pretty hard.
I've loaded the same brass ~3-4 times w/that load.
I load to 1.25, accuracy is fine.
I had a friend shoot some through his G40, primers looked fine and they shot well. Don't have a chrony yet......

Not sure that's the load I'm going to settle on, but it works well.

Gunsmithing / Re: 1911--primer flow issue

I had the same 6" Pro Match for a while. Honestly it ran pretty well except for the slide stop locking back prematurely. Did some filing and it pretty much went away. My problem was I couldn't get it to group. They sent me a replacement gun that appeared a little better finished, it shot good groups and ran really well. Between it, 2 other 10mm 1911's and a 1006 I decided to whittle it down to 1 1911. Trying to work up a good load for that many different chambers is difficult. Some are better than others depending on how you look at it but each one has it's own limits on how much pressure it'll take w/out messing up the brass. I've gotten split cases out of one chamber where the same load would be fine in another. Smiles out of guns that aren't supposed to. Primers falling out with one gun but not even showing pressure signs in another.

The Rock was actually pretty good but I didn't really shoot it enough before I sold all the 1911's to get a custom longslide built. Now I only have it and the 1006 and I don't really shoot the Smith very often. I've had primer flow but I figured it had more to do w/the composition of the primer material than overpressure as the primer wasn't flat to the edges. I still backed off the load though, just in case :)

I always bristle a little when people claim that the owners of galled DW guns aren't doing their due diligence w/break-in and oiling. However it doesn't really matter, usually DW owners know everything so it's hard to argue w/them. I did a lot of research before I purchase my RZBK and was aware I could have an issue but you figure with a few out of a thousand having issues what's the chance I would get a bad one? Pretty good actually. In fact the day I made a fool of myself by posting my issues on-line in that "1911 forum" another person posted the exact same issue. We were pretty much run out of the forum on rails and basically told we didn't know how to break in a DW firearm. Fine then, I don't need a DW. I actually had done the 'lube and hand rack' a few hundred times, cleaned, re-oiled, etc before ever shooting it.

My galled Razorback is working o.k. now however it's not the gun I purchased. It has small voids on the rails left over from DW 'lapping' it in when I sent it back. The SS locks the slide back randomly, last time I shot it the FPS fell out. It's my least favorite 1911, I'd sell it but it's 'damaged goods' now. I only got 12 shots out of it before the slide locked back to the point only a rubber mallet could get it off.

I have an RIA Ultra Match 6" I like better, at least I can get through a mag with it (I am working on the DW but half heartily). I also have a 1006 which is fun but not sure how practical it is. My custom reflex ready 10mm long slide from Springfield s/b here in a couple months, got in before they shut the custom shop down for 'catch up'.

If it were me I would scratch the itch with an RIA just 'cause they work and they're relatively cheap. While Colt does have history on their side it would NOT sway me to get a Delta Elite, maybe a 38 super commander........

Had the same problem with mine, had to use a rubber mallet to get it apart. Galled hard after a dozen rounds, sent it back, they loosened it up and returned it all scored but smoothed out. Now the slide locks back after every other round due to the slide stop getting bumped, the FPS falls out if I can get it to run past a couple rounds. It needs a lot of work, I may get around to it someday, not a fan of DW. My RIA 10mm functions much better.

I've had a RB for about a year. I didn't get 2 mags through it before it galled. Sent it back, works great now but I lost all my love for it. Have a LS RIA and a 1006 I shoot more. Just ordered another LS 10mm from SA Custom shop. Can't seem to spend my $$ on DW anymore....
