10mm semi-auto handguns / Took it to the range
May 18 2015 04:33:26 AM MDT
Heavy trigger, I measured a heafty 7 pounds pull. Nevertheless a very pleasant gun to shoot, the mass absorbs recoil nicely, a not a single malfunction.

25 meters off-hand. Always seem to have a nasty flyer in the group :(

Really like this gun, and the caliber.

Thanks guys. Actually the 1911 collection is a bit larger

Auto Ordnance 1911A1 / Colt 1911 A1 1943
Series 80 GCNM 1992 / Delta Elite 1991
LAR Grizzly .45 WM / Series 70 repro 2003

Other side (other order, don't ask why)

I bought this new back in 1999 for a very reasonable price. It was built in 1991 and it seems it sat on a shelf for 8 years, guess they did not sell back then.

It has seen a lot of rounds, both commercials, including the old Norma, and reloads.

And it has a cousin in .45 ACP

Well two cousins

Handguns / LAR Grizzly Mark I .45 Win Mag

The mighty LAR Grizzly in .45 Win Mag caliber. I bought this gun back in 1997, after being frustrated with the lack of reliability of my Desert Eagle .44 Mag. I felt that a proper rimless case made for a semi auto pistol would work better than the rimmed .44 destined for revolvers.

And I have found it to be quite reliable and very pleasant to shoot, very accurate and recoil is manageable, a handful but that's to be expected. And they invented the .460 and .500 S&W since then.

Bought this at a bankruptcy forced auction back in 1999; as per Swiss law the auction was organized by the local police, as you need a permit for all weapons, and a special permit for full-auto weapons. I have a second magazine and the original box too (though cardboard, not worth showing). Needless to say I was ecstatic to acquire it, and still very happy to have it in my collection.

I have a large Auto Mag collection and this Bicentenial model with an 8 1/2" barrel in 357 Auto Mag is my favorite.

Wow. I knew someone somewhere in this world was stashing them away, that's why they're so hard to find.

Did you post them here, or elsewhere? Do you shoot some, and reload for them ?

Handguns / .44 Auto Mag pistol model 180

Well since the 10mm is (or can be) a semi auto magnum equivalent, I thought I'd post this here too.

I've been dreaming of an Auto Mag for 30 years (Sudden Impact) but never wanted to shell out 4-5 grand. Got this one for 2200 at an auction.

A word of advice in the manual :D

Got to find reloading dies and components now.

Hate those silly lawyer proof markings

And I already have a simple rig for it

Such a nice feeling to open an old box and unwrap a new gun built 25 years ago; and one that is not produced anymore.

10mm semi-auto handguns / it has arrived

and a few surprises with it. First it looks LNIB, although the box looks a bit worn.

It was very clean, no traces of powder anywhere, and very dry, no oil, grease or gunk anywhere. Just some copper to be seen in the barrel and rifling.

It belonged to SIG (Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft, German for Swiss Industry Company).

In 2000 SIG restructured itself and focused on its core business of packaging and went out of the firearms business (going into a relationship with the German company J.P. Sauer & Sohn, hence Sig Sauer, and creating Swiss Arms for assault rifles and grenade launchers).

Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

By 2007 it was decided to sell a large part of the SIG collection, comprising lots of items they had in doubles, prototypes, rarities as well as arms from all ages and provenances from other manufacturers for comparison / testing / studying purposes.

For those interested the catalogues can be found here (in German but with some interesting photos)

Ok now time to open that box.

10mm semi-auto handguns / S&W 1006 10mm auto
April 30 2015 07:22:38 AM MDT
Hi everyone

New here, first post.

I am normally a S&W revolver enthousiast, but I just bought a S&W 1006 through an internet auction. I already have a Colt Delta Elite and I love the 10 mm auto cartridge. I reload too, which makes it available and affordable.

For a long time I did not warm up to the look of S&W semi auto pistols, but I have read how strong and well built they are, so I took the plunge. Guess that love will develop soon enough. And it should have more soul than a Glock 20 :D . And the price seemed right, 720.- Swiss francs (abt the same in US$).

Here is a first picture from the auction house.

Opinions / experience etc.. are welcome.

Now on the hunt for a 610 wheel gun (and that's gonna be difficult to find around here).

Thanks

PS Also got this but that's an entirely different story / brand
