I sent an inquiry to Henry to ask if they would consider chambering the new Henry Steel levergun in 454 Casull.

Got a note back from Anthony Imperato himself, very nice dealing with a solid company who responds to the public.
Mr Lovell thank you very very much Sir for your kind words and invitation (sounds wonderful and I certainly appreciate it). We may look at the 454 one day as we get enough inquiries. We will keep you posted on all enw items. In meantime, please email me your phone number, name, street address and T shirt size as I would like to send a couple of comp Henry items.

Sincerely,
Anthony Imperato
President

10mm semi-auto handguns / Any S&W 1076 owners & lovers?
April 27 2015 04:32:07 PM MDT
Many years ago I lucked into a Quantico assembled S&W FBI 10mm. I shot it a bunch just messing around with it, never took it that serious as I had a thing for big bore revolvers at the time and the 10mm came in to my possession while that was going on.
Then one day I was reading about a guide somewhere up in Alaska, he was on his knees and removing the cape from a client's caribou when a big brown charged into them, his clients ran, one of them dropping his rifle and the other pants too full of everything he had ever eaten to use his. The guide had a S&W 1086, the model that was DA only. when the bear swatted him, he somehow managed to get his hand on his pistol and got 5 rounds into the bear's face, throat and chest and one of them was the magic bullet and the bear fell dead almost on top of him.
I took a new interest in the 1076 which had spent all it's time in the gun safe since I last played with it, but never carried it. I sent it in to the S&W Performance Center and in a few days the gunsmith called me, he put heavy springs in it for the 165gr Doubletap ammo I wanted to use in it all the time. Polished the feed ramp, gave me new mag springs and followers for my magazines and put in a new extractor because he said it had a little wear on it. When it came back to me, I had already ordered a case of the 165gr Doubletap so I went out and ran 250 rounds of it through the gun and shot another 100 of Winchester 175gr Silvertips and 20 of some old Federal Hydroshock FBI load I had (geeze those were like ladyfingers going off compared to the 165gr Doubletaps which sounded more like M-80's going off).
The Winchester Silvertips shot really accurate but when I shot them and the 165 Doubletap loads, the penetration and explosiveness of the Doubletap rounds in the red clay mud bank I shot them into.
I managed to get hired for a grocery store chain doing plainclothes store security and my armed commission in KCK allowed me to carry the 1076. So I did and then the company made me start working in KCMO and the KCMO PD being the more politically correct variety of PD's, would not let me carry that way overpowered 10mm cartridge on their city streets. So I bought a Springfield XD 45acp to carry in KCMO and still used the 1076 for my EDC.
10rnds of hot 165gr 10mm in a Colt Commander sized gun, the 1076 is sweet.
I had a Aneurysm in my left eye in 2010 so I had to sell many nice guns to cover expenses, including the 1076. I originally had about $300 value when I got it, Cabela's Gun Library in KC gave me $675 for it and I was in a pinch for money and let it go.
Maybe one day another one will come to me.

10mm Hunting / Re: NON-LEAD 10mm hunting bullets?

When I was a kid, reloading bullets were hard to come by, this was in the 50's. The old men my grand dad shot with cut their own bullets out of copper wire. One guy had a 264 Win mag and he shot a bunch of coyotes with pieces of 6.5mm copper wire he cut to size & weight he wanted turned himself a point on them with a home made tool. I remember him telling my grandpa they weighed 145 grains, looked like a stubby pencil. Maybe not the greatest but he regularly dropped coyotes at really long ranges.
Never tried it, but I am thinking if you can get yourself some 10mm diameter copper rod, you could cut your own heavy hunting slugs that would be a big middle finger in the face of Kfornia.

Shooting the Winchester Silvertip loads in a Glock 29 is very pleasant, accurate and serious defensive power in a small frame gun

General Discussion / Re: Introductions

Howdy, my name is Rusty, I live near The Great Sand Dunes in south central Colorado on the side of the Sangre De Cristo range with 14,000ft Kit Carson mountain in my front yard and a commanding view of the entire San Luis Valley and west at sunset towards Telluride. View looking NW towards Monarch from my bedroom yesterday at 6am.

and girlfriend snapped this looking east out dining room window at Kit Carson mountain a couple mornings back

Love 10mm cartridge and what it can do, currently without one in my stash but formerly owned a 1076 FBI as my EDC & armed private officer carry in KC metro for many years. EDC these days is Ruger sr 1911 with +P 230gr Hornady ammo
I shoot a bunch of heavy 45 Colt out of a 7 1/2 Bisley and used to reload & shoot a bunch of 41 Mag, .243 & shotgun. SHot IHMSA silhouette for many years with Contender and Ruger Security 6.
life NRA, CMP Garand shooter, Whittington Center range trip coming May 10th with my 89yr old WWII 9th Armored veteran, retired judge and avid gun collector father.
Personal politico, Right now, Marcus Luttrell and Dr. Ben carson for leadership selection next election cycle. Someone needs to drop a house on the witch, her daughter is being groomed as her successor, her hubba is still chasin nookie. Life goes on, reloading 30-06 for the Garand every day, cause Obama aint about to give up messing with us.

Ok, the search is on, I think I want to find a decent Glock 20 and carbine kit for it or build a Olympic upper AR carbine, woud love to have one of those 1076 again, maybe some day.
