Factory Ammo / Re: Norma .22LR TAC-22 40gr LRN
May 03 2016 04:19:33 AM MDT
I bought several cartons of this and now I'm disappointed it does not like to function in my semi-auto pistols.
No problems in the revolvers.

Federal from Dicks functions in my cheap little Phoenix after I disabled a couple of their redundant safeties.

Winchester and CCI ammo seems to function 100% in my 3 Rugers.

I had to remove the LCI in the 22/45 Lite.  22 ammo is so dirty that after a couple magazines of the Norma stuff it would start misfeed.
It runs almost 100% (98%) without the LCI.

Why does Ruger make such a nice gun then screw it up with the LCI and magazine safety (it is gone as well).

Rifles / Re: I built a 9mm AR Carbine.

In my best whiney voice, "But, I want oneeeee."

I have several AR'S in various calibers and since I keep a good stock of 9mm ammo on hand (GSSF) it sorta makes sense, for a defense gun around the farm.

My wife would probably shoot all my ammo up.

I was wondering about the cost, in the end
That is more than I expected as well.

And if you trouble shoot and try to repair, the cost goes up even more.

I had a few problems with 300 blk.  Everyone is an expert and had different suggestions but I worked through them.

I suspect there are a lot of guns out there with problems....

When you fire a large cal rifle cartridge in a rifle, both hands and arms soak up some of the jolt as well as most of your body.

Put those cartridges in a pistol and it is like standing there with your arms out, hands open, and letting a couple major-league baseball players hit you in the hands with their best swing.

Actual severe damage has been done to shooters of large calibers.
So ask yourself, is this kind of fun worth the result?

I can help you with the 45-70 problem by selling you my Encore barrel in 458 Winchester Magnum.  The 45-70 won't kick less but it will be more fun than the 458WM.

Then again, you aren't holding the wrong end of the gun when you fire it, are you.

First, a quick question, why are you fooling around with such puny calibers?

I have a Bullberry 458 Win Mag barrel for my Encore.  I have not experienced those symptoms.
However, I have given myself headaches with it as well as with various other 458's 45-70's and a 12 ga pump gun shooting slugs.

The 458WM with downloaded rounds is very pleasant to shoot.  Of course. The barrel weighs around 200 lbs.  Ha-ha.  I should trade this barrel, not many moose in VA.

Note, I loaded my 45-70 loads to achieve 2000fps with the lighter bullets.

Here is what I remember:

The 45 was chosen because it was the minimum bullet diameter that supplied sufficient knockdown using ball ammo.

But now that we have sissified the military with the 9mm, we must utilize modern powders and bullets to maintain stopping power.

Makes sense to me.

I predict they will ban the sidearm and issue pepper spray.
Maybe we can just ban the Iraq flag.  And Iran, and Cuban, etc.  Problems solved.

The most newsworthy thing about him is his serious mental illness and the press is not covering that.

It is difficult to read your description on my US Cellular StupidFone -  what makes it one-of-a-kind?
'Cept for the springs it sounds like mine.

The back pressure will over-inflate your scrotum causing it to burst like a cheap pink balloon from the dollar store.
