Sprinco's sytem is designed, or rather promoted to reduce impact to the frame. What Intercooler is talking about with the guide rod is the fitment to the frame itself. It is designed to not just ride on the little tabs, but to rest on the tabs and has an extension to also rest a little further forward on the meat of the frame. Hard to describe without pictures, go look at Hennings website for more accurate description. I won't knock Sprinco's system having never tried it myself, just seems a little gimmicky. I'd at least do some searching on reviews prior and see what you come up with.

Had asked for a notice when it became available again before I bought the Stock II. If anyone is interested, here ya go!

My current long range set up is limited out (as far as accuracy) at about 650yds. It is a .308 optimized with 168 grain. It spreads out and begins to yaw and eventually tumble going out to 1,000. I do have some 175 grain that do better as far as holding a pattern at that distance. I can still get within 3.5' MOA at the 1,000yd mark (yes I meant to put the ' sign after the 3.5, not "). The 168 grain in my set up just won't quite do it. I do have a 300 Weatherby Mag that will reach out there better, but it isn't fun to shoot after about 5 rounds. I'm not a recoil wimp, but it is a mule.

The factory spring is a little light. Have a 18#, 20#, & 22# spring set and am currently experimenting back and forth.  The flat bottom firing pin retainer is still not available so I'll experiment again when I get it. Without it 20# seems to be enough, but as reported, still experimenting. I did go with the beefier guide rod and it's well made. I did it for preventative measures so don't know if it is necessary or not, but I feel confident in it.I like the rear sight fine but not enough contrast on the front one for my eyes. Have been trying some bright nail polish on it and it works, but I foresee a fiber optic front on it eventually.

What they said, wrong application. Mine fit perfectly. Not many times I've found aftermarket internals better than factory, this is one.

I really like my 1911. .45 is one of my go to calibers. Kinda like a wheel gun, can't have a collection without at least one. However, in an auto, what's not to love about the 10mm? Even blocks, not a fan, but have an earned reputation. Expand a mind, enjoy the hobby!

I have added some spring help and run the 45 super through mine without issue. I agree it can handle the 10 if set up for it. However, for me there is a glitch and I don'tuse them for self-defense. While shooting I use almost the death grip and had no issues. However I also ran some self-defense exercises with them and found that during some quicker follow up shots and with double taps, the super is enough that the gun can twist in your hands enough that I would occasionally engage the mag release with my thumb. As always, run some drills prior to carry.  Everyone holds a little different, may not happen to you but. ..

Can I get nosey? How much for the conversion? I would love to get several conversion kits for the stock II. I've looked into the 9 & 45, but at over $700.00 per...

Are you really planning on needing to shoot 500 people?  Or just miss a lot?

Wanna know what keeps me up at night?  That freaking light on the smoke detector.

I'm happy for your contentment and would not try to talk you out of it. Not trying to read anything into your comment that isn't there but, there are a lot of us who store up things just in case without being afraid of the dark as well. We simply look at it as possible insurance.  We don't buy in hopes of needing it, just the opposite. It also a good hedge against any future ammo scare that might drive up pricing or cause scarcity.

I have a pretty decent supply in several calibers and a lot in most of the popular calibers. Enough that I'm content and not frightened if another scare happens. Is it enough, without knowing what will happen, who knows. I do know it probably won't go down in value if nothing happens. It could feed my family if the need arises. It could also sit on the shelves wasting space and money. Hopefully my life insurance is a waste as well. I figure as long as my preparing doesn't interfere with life and finances, it makes me feel a little more secure. I think when it takes over your thinking and finances, you've got a problem.

Factory 10mm ammo / Re: Freedom Munitions 10mm

I purchased some not long and they advertised 1100? Found an old pull down on this site that said it was chrono'd at 1025 but I don't remember how current it was. Took them forever and apparently their inventory was wrong. The good news is they sent me XTP instead of the RNFP I ordered to make up for it.

Might wait a while, other than intercooler, I'm not sure who has experience with both. I've been very pleased with the stock II,  but have no experience with the ltd. Really depends on your purpose and what price difference you've found. Stock II has all your bases covered and the limited adds some barrel length for a longer sight picture and a little extra fps. It also gives you some different sight options.

Torx was advertised and labeled on both the site and packaging. Allen is what I had to use to make it work. Not a good enough fit however to be able to crank them down very well..

I sent him an email about screws last week (http://czscrews.angelfire.com/) and haven't received a response. Anyone else have any suggestions for a grip screw source?
