The Scheels outlet in Bismarck ND had Longshot on hand for 31.99 (18 Dec.), had son#2 get a few pounds. A friend at work has a brother employed at the Scheels in Billings MT, he brought back 3 pounds of BL-C2 for the same price per pound.

General Discussion / Re: R.I.P. Rush Limbaugh

I'd been in Germany from 86 to 91 (Air Force working the flight line) and got stationed at Ellsworth AFB as a Crew Chief on the B-1's in early 92. Worked the mid shift (11pm to 7am), come home to do evening things in the morning like yard stuff, help with the two boys or grill over a few beers and make a good lunch. That is when I first started listening. Twenty nine years later I'm now working at a fairly large Grain Elevator running a 120' crop sprayer all season, running a semi, or servicing equipment.  No, Rush Limbaugh wasn't perfect cause he was human like the rest of us. But when it came to "reading the stiches of a fast ball" in regards to politics and what it meant to those of us who actually work, he called out the hypocrisy and subversion of the left and their media. Just like President Trump, Rush couldn't drain the swamp but he sure as hell exposed it. Was in a truck with the radio on the morning of the 17th and when I heard his wife Cathryn come on, figured what was coming. I believe Rush provided a positive balance to our American Culture that is under attack.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: 1st 10mm handloads
December 13 2020 05:31:09 PM MST
A ProChrono Digital that I've used now for over 7 years. It was around 6 feet away from the barrel. I spent a bit of time searching for an identical scenario as mine to see if these were 'ballpark' figures but didn't find a perfect fit. Also the second shot of the 9.3 group produced a failure to feed, no problems before or after that. Was able to resize the brass this afternoon and it lengthened out .004, some .005.  Hoping to not have to mess with crimp die.

Reloading 10mm ammo / 1st 10mm handloads

Recently had the financial opportunity to get dies and bullets for this, had everything else lined up. This Gen 3 20sf has a KKM 6" barrel, the Wolf 22lb non captive return spring with the steel guide rod and a q tip/Mothers polish on the trigger linkage. With fresh Starline brass, WLP primers, Longshot, and 180 gn FMJ from Everglades, I laddered by .1 gn from 8.5 to 9.5 (3 of each) across the chrono. Last Sunday up in the NW corner of SD was clear, calm and almost 60. Used a Caldwell rifle rest as a platform.
8.7  1298 1278 1269               9.2  1330 1346 1332
8.8  1289 1294 1305               9.3  1350 1317 1341
8.9  1302 1298 1287               9.4  1346 1345 1342
9.0  1325 1345 1328               9.5  1361 1350 1373
9.1  1333 1305 1312
After finding the sharpy-marked brass, no expanded primers and with calipers the 9.0+ grain loads were at .429. Interestingly, after I popped out the primers and measuring, the higher loads shortened the brass by up to .010. Haven't resized them yet to see if that length gets restored. Maybe the .004 above the original .425 is coming off the top. I seat and crimp in two steps with the "bell removal" set at .421-.422., OAL at 1.257-1.260.
I posted an intro last night, been reading here for a while. Lots of great info. Plan on putting some more brass into low earth orbit.

General Discussion / Re: Introductions

Hello All, my name is John. I've been reading and learning from this great forum for awhile now. I live near the NW corner of South Dakota in a small ag-based community. Sturgis (and the Black Hills) are 170 miles SW, Bismarck ND is 125 to the NE. Active duty AF from Jan84 to Oct94, working aircraft environmental and electrical systems on the flight line. The last 3 years I was a engine-run qualified primary Crew Chief on the B1-B's at Ellsworth, serious fun for a member of the 'ground crew'. Four kids, 4 grandsons, no complaints-that's what peep sights and scopes are for! Been operating a 120' boom self propelled crop sprayer 12 years now and when its wet in the early spring, it pays to get out and walk certain spots to prevent getting the sprayer stuck. Too many badger holes for me. Started out with a CZ P01 in 9mm that is awesomely accurate with the 124gn round nose. Soon after came Marlin levers in 44 Mag, 444M, 30-30 Win, and 35 Rem. I started out reloading the 44 Mag and continued on with the other 3 rifle cartridges. My 444 with a 300gn XTP and 41.5 gns of H4198 falls into the realm of serious fun-right at 2000fps with an 18.5 ported barrel.  A while back I bought the Gen3 20sf but wasn't prepared to reload for it, so over some time have prepared and its coming together.  Improvements include a 6"KKM, 22lb non captive return spring with steel guide rod, and trigger linkage polish. The q tips and Mothers polish really helped to define the trigger break point.  Did the ladder with Longshot, WLP primers, and Everglades 180gn TMJ from 8.5 to 9.5 (fresh starline brass) last weekend and this thing rocks! Going to post in  the reloading section with chrono results here in a bit, but wanted to offer my perspective (of serious fun) and a "Thanks" to forum members and the education you offer.
