I have a CZ 455 with all three barrels and this is a really nice rifle. I would get the CZ you can buy extra barrels on their website.

I had some PPU 10mm brass that was loaded twice with mild loads bulge, this stuff is garbage.

I fired some PPU factory 44 magnum loads and the brass was thinner than american made casings. After resizing it .430" jacketed bullets were loose inside the casing after seating. I scrapped it along with the 10mm brass.

I have a home made backstop in my garage to test loads in which uses sand to stop the bullets. The box is wood and about 2' long and 12"x12" square with a mud flap on the front and an old bullet proof vest behind the sand. I have fired a lot of different caliber handgun loads into this backstop, 38,9mm,357, 40, 10mm, 41 mag, 44 mag and 45 colt. I was surprised when I changed the sand the first time because the hotter rounds generally don't penetrate more than 8"-10" and expend their energy quickly. The only rounds that make it within a couple of inches of the vest is the 750- 850 fps 250 grain 45 Colt loads. There is something to be said for a slow heavy large caliber bullet when it comes to penetration.

I am a dinosaur when it comes to technology my cell phone is a flip up and the pictures are terrible. The powder looks just like the photos you posted.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: CSB-1

I have been working with CSB-1 for the past 6 months and I have worked up loads for the following calibers 9mm, 38 spl, 357 mag, 40 S&W, 10mm, 41 mag, 44mag and 45 colt. I have found that it developes pressure very quickly in regards to increasing the powder charge and has some large shot to shot variations in velocity. It is most useful in medium and target velocity loads.

The 10mm loads I worked up all used CCI LP and twice fired Starline cases with a strong taper crimp. All bullets were Precision Delta FMJ. 5" RIA 7' from the muzzle

180FMJ over 5.0 = 890 FPS

180FMJ over 5.5 = 972 FPS

180FMJ over 6.0 = 1044 FPS

165FMJ over 6.0 = 1013 FPS

Loads 2&3 were the most uniform loads but for some reason did not shoot as well as #4 in my pistol.

One thing I have noticed is that the wide variations occur prior to achieving what is probably the most uniform loads and at lowere velocities. But what is puzzling is that most of these loads are very accurate through my various revolvers and pistols. Some were as high as 75 FPS difference.

I would not try to develope magnum loads with this powder. I only use it for target loads. Don't believe that you can use Universal or any other available canister powder for your loading data. I loaded up the same grain loads that I used in CSB-1 with Universal powder and the velocities were no where near close. I would bet the presures are quite different too.

I contacted Maxim last summer after I recieved this powder and was told it was not supposed to be released in the US. They also told me that after they had completed their testing they were going to release it in the US in 2015 in canister form.

Proceed with caution it is not a magnum powder.

I loaded some in my 357 at 1000 fps and they shedded the plating. I have also noticed that there is more recoil when loading them with the same charge as jacketed bullets of the same weight. Softer bullets can raise the pressure  because they offer more resistance.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: 10mm 1911 Question

I just purchased a RIA in 40 and installed one of their 10mm barrels and it was truly a drop in. The dimensions were exactly the same as the 40 barrel the pistol came with.
The barrel from RIA was right at $100 and with the recoil springs and new magazines I have about $200 in the whole project.

Miscellaneous 10mm Firearms / Re: S&W 1066 parts

I have quite a few 3rd gen S&W's and the only adjustable rear sight that I have gotten to work on an original fixed sight pistol is the old Millett sights which require replacement of the front sight blade also. The problem is that they are obsolete. I was able to install a set on a 4013 and they are superior even to the factory S&W adjustable sights. If you have any older gunsmith shops in your area you can see if they have any in stock and they show up on ebay every once in a while.

The barrel from RIA arrived yesterday and it was the same dimension as the 40 barrel so this installation was simply a drop in. I did have to trim the ejector back a few thousands to get a loaded 10mm round to eject. Does anyone know what pound recoil spring is used in the 40 S&W?

Handguns / Re: Glock 18c Full Auto Test Fire Review
February 10 2015 07:06:40 AM MST
I fired one of the original 18's about 20 years ago when Glock brought it to our PD. They were hard to control and most who shot it ended up striking the ceiling before the magazine was empty but it looks like the compensation has corrected that problem. We went through a 1000 rounds and then the salesman filled up the bathroom sink with water and threw it in, it sizzled for about 30 seconds. We tried to take it apart and see what the difference was but he wouldn't let us. I guarantee you will spend more time loading the magazines than you will firing it but it was fun.

Factory Ammo / Re: WRF 22 ammo

I have used it in my S&W model 17 and it worked fine but the rim size seems to be a tad bit larger than the magnum. I haven't measured it but the rim seems thicker

Thanks for the responses I have ordered an 18.5, 20 and 24 lbs springs from Wolff but I still need a barrel link and pin. I have been shooting a 40 since they came out but I have never worked with the 10mm yet and I am looking forward to it.

Gunsmithing / 40 S&W to 10mm conversion
February 08 2015 06:14:24 AM MST
Hello, I recently purchased a RIA 1911a1 Tact 2 pistol in 40 S&W and have purchased most of the parts to fit a 10mm barrel to this pistol. What pound recoil spring should I use ?

Thanks, Mike
