I remember that issue. That is when I started my love affair wit the 10. I went to the academy in 1990 and started carrying a G20 in the spring of 91. I carried it for the next 10 years on the job. I still carry a 10mm G29sf is my EDC.
You should definitely keep both the gun and that issue!

G29sf is my EDC. I use to carry a G20 on the job and off. I didn't think that it was that heavy back then. My 29 is so light that I have to do an arm check to make sure that I didn't forget to put it on. You can drop in an extended barrel and G20 mag and you have it all. I do still carry my 20 at times but it is because it was  with me for so many years, that I just want to take my old friend out for a walk! ;D

Got one of those myself and I love it.  I'd say you got a real good deal on that one.  Mine came to me in a trade, but in my mind I have more than that in it, and I didn't get a box.   :-[  If you reload your brass you might look into a lighter recoil spring.  The factory spring will sling my brass 20 feet or more behind me, making it difficult to find.  I agree that they are too heavy and bulky for EDC.  I just use mine on the range and sometime for a woods walk.  I picked up a cheapo shoulder holster from fleabay that holds many of my pisto'las.  Never looked for anything else to be honest.

You're going to love that Smith!
If your brass is being flung to far, you need a stronger spring to slow the slide down. If you put a lighter spring in it will increase the slide speed and throw the brass even farther.

Buckeye 50, I have both the 20 & 29. There is a small difference in recoil, but not a huge deal. My current EDC is the 29sf so I shoot it a lot. I usually go through 100 rounds per weekend with it. They are all full power hand loads. I take my 20 along every 3 or 4 times and put 50 through it.
I have an 8" gong at 25 yard that I have no problem hitting with the 29 off hand. If you like the 20 you will love the 29! Now I see that the G40 will be out this year, guess I will have one more Glock 10mm.

Nevada,
One thing that can cause erratic velocity is that your slide is coming out of battery to soon. Are you still using a stock weight recoil spring? That will make a huge difference in your velocity spread on full power loads like these.
