Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: Sierra/Sig V-Crowns

I would imagine some type of timeframe exclusive, but my money is on eventually that will see a full lineup.  Just a guess though!

Well, if you like the Sig V-Crowns, Sierra just blogged that they are making them available to reloads - https://sierrabullets.wordpress.com/2015/11/02/sierra-bullets-partners-with-sig-sauer-for-new-bullet-line/.

Funny thing is I have gotten back into rifle shooting and hunting again, so I am looking at QL again for that purpose...  Man, this reloading/handloading thing sure saves money - haha!

Thanks for keeping $99 in my pocket!  I have been using the old scale all morning, and thinking why did I even ask...

Reloading / RCBS 10-10 Scale
October 31 2015 08:59:31 AM MDT
I was at a local store and they are trying to clear out the 10-10 scale for $99.  Is that a good price to grab a backup scale for?  I have an 30+ year old Ohaus 10-0-5, but just worried one day it might crap out...

10mm semi-auto handguns / Glock 40
September 09 2015 07:58:01 AM MDT
On the fence about purchasing a Glock 40, I have a 20 that works fine and does everything I need, but dealer called me up and said they had one for me (they know what I like)!  Any reports on 40 versus 20 for those that have both?  I imagine everyone on this forum will say buy, but just looking for advantages of the 40 over the 20...  Thanks!

I don't know the answer, but I bought 4 boxes of them a while back when Nosler.com had them on sale.  Haven't loaded any up yet...

Factory 10mm ammo / Re: The Original Norma 10mm ammo

I remember shooting them (don't remember which bullet) right when I got my 1006 in 1990.

Armadillos are NOT bulletproof.
The rocks around and behind the darting mammal often times are however...

I don't know about that, as a kid I shot plenty of armadillos with 22lr in the College Sation, TX area and never had any ricochets...  I don't remember using a 38 special, but definitely 357s and 44 mag as I got older.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: G20 or 40?
July 24 2015 07:51:15 PM MDT
I'll probably sell my G20 when the 40's come in, I only use the 20 for target practice and the 40, I imagine, will be a little nicer for that type of shooting.  You never know though - guns do tend to multiply...  Every gun I have told myself I'll sell once the "new" one comes in, their still in the safe!

Yes I do!  I normally carry the Glock 29.  I don't see a need for smaller, it conceal rather easy, and is comfortable in several holsters I have for it.  I like it better than the Glock 27 as I can get more of my big hands on the 29 for a better grip - although I do rotate the 27 in every once in a while.

Funny story, I had some old computer hard drives that I didn't know what was on them so I didn't want to donate - I took them out to where I shot and hung them next to my steel gongs and shot them with the 27 and 29, I never would have thought the 40 S&W would not go all the way through the drives (all bullets where lodged into the HDD cases), whereas the 10mm just left nice holes all the way through ejecting all the broken disk material out the back - not a valid test of anything, but kind of made me feel more confident with the 29 as my carry choice!

Fired a box of V Crowns, 155 Hornady's and 175 flexlock Hornady.

155 were equal or stronger than the V Crowns.

Flex Locks were clearly weaker but surprisingly smoother.

Fired out of my G 29 using stock and Lone Wolf extended barrel. No problems at all.All good carry ammo.

Stock RSA or heavier one?

I am trying to decide between these and the current Hornady Custom 180 grain ammo I am using for carry purpose.  I guess these have a higher advertised velocity than the Hornady's (1250 vs 1100).  And with Intercooler"s testing it looks like they get close...

Reloading / Re: Power Pistol Properties

Not normally as Power Pistol burns very hot and usually shows a bright flash at times.  Is it possible you had a freshly lubed bore?  Any oil in the barrel may have created the smoke.  Another thing that needs to be watched too much oil can raise pressures as the bullet forces it way down the rifling.

Is it possible something was inside the casing?  Casing lube?  Spider web?  Cast bullet lube?  Just a WAG (wild ass guess)

Barrel was clean and dry with a couple of dry patches run through it after cleaning.  I can't remember if I used Hornady One Shot or RCBS spray lube, but possible I use a little too much...

Not really an issue, just curious.
