10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: Which one would you buy?

If you're shopping RIA take a look at the Big Rock model 52000.  16+1 w/ a 6" barrel but it's heavy.  Almost 4lbs loaded (weight does calm the recoil a bit.)   The fiber optic sites, longer barrel, and rail makes it a little difficult finding a holster.

Regarding the OP, is that configuration any easier to conceal than a G20?  Looks just as bulky although a slight capacity advantage.

I have a slightly sillier thing, I chopped a 21 grip frame to 29/30 length and I have Glock 20 magazines with grip sleeves and Glock 29 magazines with +2 extensions.

It has a Lone Wolf "Tactical length" slide (about 5.2") but with a Storm Lake 6" conversion barrel.

So it should be the performance of a 40 but it will print more like a 20/29.

I like it.  Glockstore keeps blowing out their 17/22 frames cheap and I keep hoping they will offer some 20/21 frames for $50.  I would snap a couple up for just this purpose.  CCO Glock build.
ME TOO!!

I have been one the fence for a 80% for the G20.

I love the 29 as a trail gun. I don't have a longer bbl for mine but I have a bunch of them for other models! KKM is a favorite!

The X-Grip dose a fine job making the G29 a G20 frame feel.

I wish 9x25 barrels where offered for the G29...

CW
80% build is frustrating for 10mm.  Scant few of the parts stores seem aware Glock makes anything at all NOT 9mm.  I did see a G20/21 80% frame recently but I had just gotten a complete G21 lower at a flea market.  He had another that was stripped but would not sell me both.  Lone Wolf had a complete tactical slide on clarence.  Added truglo sites, 3 mags, and we're there.  Now I want a G29... there's just no end to it.

AT LEAST a flash from a firearm is not like black clouds from a diesel truck, all that unburnt fuel is totally wasted. Adding extra powder is maintaining pressure after the initial spike, and has a nominal effect.    ;)
Call me novice but if the burning powder is still pushing the bullet after it leaves the barrel, would it not cause destabilization?  Once bullet exits, there is no guarantee the pressure is even and pushing in the desired direction.  What am I missing?

General Discussion / CC 1911 double stack long slide?
January 17 2018 10:13:41 PM MST
Got this RIA model 52000; it's a fairly decent size firearm weighing close to 4 lbs but I still want to see if I can CC.  I just don't want to sink $200 into a custom holster to find out it doesn't work.  Does any one here know an economical brand of vertical shoulder holster that will hold this thing?  I'm 6'2" and wear a 48 long athletic cut suit so my frame should handle it.  Any suggestions?

10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: Rock Island rock series 10mm

Got a RIA 10MM 6", 16+1 and had a few nagging issues out of the box.  Sent it back to Armscor and they sent me a new gun.  The warranty response from Armscor was amazing.  No questions, no hassle.  This one runs like a Swiss watch and the recoil is nothing to write home about.  I was actually expecting something more bone rattling but then it weighs in a tad under 4 lbs fully armed.   The only down side is any hope of trying to CC this thing (but haven't given up just yet. :) )  No regrets...

Rock Island, Fusion.  My RIA 1911 6" double stack weighs in just under 4 lbs loaded.  It is rather docile with even the hot stuff.  It's quite fun to shoot.

My mistake; I should have put +P in quotes.  The intent was to state full power 10mm and not the "40 long" being passed off as 10mm...

I was actually considering the Hunter a while back until saw the Armscor 10mm long slide double stack 1911.  They are quite limited in availability so I'm reconsidering.  Tired of waiting.

Thought I had a 1911 picked out but availability is becoming an issue.  Besides Glock G40, EAA witness hunter, and the elusive Rock Island, what are some others to consider.  Thought I should start looking at other options.  I'm trying to ignore "ugly" as a mitigating factor... maybe. Something +P will not beat to death.

General Discussion / EAA or RIA...?
August 28 2015 04:44:28 PM MDT
Been interested in a 10mm 1911 double stack long slide for a while now and have been saving my pennies.   The two candidates at the moment are the RIA model 52000 PRO Match Ultra 6" HC and the EAA Witness Hunter.  What are some of your experiences, thoughts, opinions, etc., with these brands?  Not sure what exactly I'll use it for, there is just a spot in the gun safe that needs one to fill it.  We do have OC starting here the first of the year, so it would be a good hiking companion when the wife and I go strolling in the forest.  :)

10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: ria ls available

Armscor emailed back pretty quickly but been kind of busy.  There are two versions; the 52009 and the longer barreled 52000.  Armscor said they only make about 25 of each per month.  They suggested gun genie for finding one...

Hope that helps.

... actually just got some hits on the new G40.  Kind of wondering about price...

Don't know about the OP, but I've been wanting a 10mm double stack 1911 and there are not too many options.  The RIA has my attention.  Already have a G22; it is a good piece of equipment...

The RIA is "1911"... can't get that from a Glock.

Just wondering, if a new gun doesn't like certain ammo types, do you ever try it again after firing a few hundred rounds.  Could it make any difference?
