Update......

Sorry this seem to have halted. Lots going on and no time to work on the carbine.
Now getting back into it but making done changes.
It is still a SMLE action but now with a modified 1911 style lower so that I can use Calibre specific magazines such as 10mm, 40S&W & 22TCM (yes, that's right, I am giving this fun little round a go in the carbine too).
Let's hope I make a bit more progress this summer!!!!

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: Dare I say it.....Bullseye.....!

Thank you, these will give me a good starting point. As I cannot hunt anything larger than Fox with this carbine (not legal in the UK for deer) then varmint and target loads are all I need at the moment.

A mix between a 1911 and an XP100...it's still in development! It will pass either side of the magazine well and tip the sear from a different angle than the SMLE. Nothing a brain, trial & error and a small whisky can't solve.
Pictures attached of the barrel and shortened bolt in my .45ACP.

I shall continue to use Her Majesty's English... ;D

Reloading 10mm ammo / Dare I say it.....Bullseye.....!

Hi,

I can hear the groans already....

Would anyone have a load, (or completely not recommend - I am willing to listen) for 135gr TMJ in Remington brass using Bullseye, with either CCI350 or CCI300 primers. Also, 180gr XTP using the same ingredients. The brass will be in a fully supported chamber with 12" barrel.

Thanks,

Guy

Yes, that's the one. The receiver is counter bored so the chamber ends up a couple of inches rearward. The bolt is shortened to match.

I will post a pic of the receiver in a .45ACP I did earlier this year.

I will also be changing the sear and trigger to allow me to have the trigger forward of the pistol grip / magazine, a little bit like the XP100.

Miscellaneous 10mm Firearms / UK legal 10mm Carbine Project
November 12 2014 06:33:22 AM MST
Hi,

as described in my introduction, I am attempting a carbine that will be UK legal, ie, 300mm minimum barrel length, 600mm minimum overall length.

It will be based on an SMLE action with shortened bolt, recessed into the 12-14" barrel to fully support the case as much as possible, on an aluminium (sorry, aluminum) stock, using a pistol grip housing a Glock 20 15rnd mag.......Hopefully!!

I will post pics and updates over the coming weeks for those who might be interested.

Please feel free to ask questions or offer advice. I used to shoot 10mm many moons ago but have never reloaded for it (I reload for all my other calibres, .45ACP, 7mm08, 308, .221) but will be interested in some recipes for sure...

Hi everyone,

My name is Guy, I live in the UK (Scotland) and I am building a 10mm Carbine.

To comply with current UK law the carbine must have a minimum barrel length of 300mm and an overall minimum length of 600mm.

I am using an SMLE action on an aluminium stock with a pistol grip. Imagine a long and slightly futuristic XP100!

I will post pics during the build if anyone is interested.

I will be discussing loads for it too....
