10mm Hunting / Got a badger

Came across a badger. 180 XTP from a Glock 20. Right behind the skull, lights out.  Found bullet both core and jacket separated under the hide on the other side of the neck, but skull was destroyed.  It was a side shot basically jaw bone to jaw done.  Thought it strange the bullet was recovered. Factory load

Has anyone tried this yet?  Would like to see how it compares to the factory hornady with same bullet

Pablo, no, the shots would hurt, and piss him off.  Can it kill him? Of course it can and with several hits it would probably die eventually by not before he ripped the shooter apart.  and there is a difference in hunting with the 10mm and self deffence or back up with a 10mm.  If it's all I had and I was being attacked of course I would do my best to defend myself.

That bear makes any handgun a bad choice.  Most any place does not have bears like that (grizzly/brown) and 10mm is great then.

Thanks guys.

165 gold dots sound good.  I had some day dream about super fast light hollow points making coyotes explode.  But 165 seems about right.

I would love to try the federal load. Trying to get the local store to carry it.  I can use hardcast and had   considered the 200 xtp.  If it were between the the xtp or the nosler 200 grain would I ever know the difference?

Factory 10mm ammo / Pick two factory loads

I have a gen 3 glock20c.  I have a Wolff steel guide rod and 22lb spring, or the factory spring.

Lots of options on underwood website.  So if I want a good carry round and a good woods round what should I look at?  Was thinking faster and lighter for everyday use or at the house and heavy/stout in the woods.  One thing about the woods round is the difference in defense vs hunting.  I can defend myself with anything I want.  But if I am bow hunting and decide I want to legally pistol hunt the black bear I just saw then it can't be FMJ.

Or is there one that is great for both?  I have extensive Glock experience and carry everyday on and off duty for 13 years.  Most likely will daily carry 9mm but want the G20 option.  Woods will be G20. I just don't have 10mm experience, yet.

Any opinions from you guys that really know the difference in the 10mm rounds would be greatly appreciated.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: Preferred Glock setup
October 26 2014 11:51:24 AM MDT
Thanks again everyone.  I think I have ruled out the 24# spring.  I should mention I intend to keep the stock 20c barrel.  If I make it a dedicated hunting gun vs a backup woods companion then I might go for an aftermarket 10mm barrel.

I am leaning towards a wolff guide rod and 22# spring, maybe also. 20# just to have around.  Wolff says all recoil springs come with a stock weight stricker spring.  Is there any reason to change that?  The stock stricker spring in the gun is practically brand new and I never had any thought of changing it out.  I can see myself changing to a 3.5 pound connector but springs make me nervous.
