Background checks would reduce violent crime. When cops in NYC get killed they trace the guns back to the same SC gun shop who sells the guns, and then the guy who bought the guns sells them to unknown people who then sell them to cop killers.

When the cops trace the guns, the original purchaser says I did nothing wrong.

Less than 10% of gun owners are NRA members. Of those that are NRA members a vast majority want background checks.
