10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: Another new 10MM at Shot?
January 14 2019 08:00:52 PM MST
I know Turkey is really on it's way down the tubes but if a reputable European or U.S. manufacturer would copy the SAR K2 .45 in 10mm I think that would be one sweet 17+1 10mm! The .45 fits my hand like a glove. I put a recoil reduction system on my .45 and shot a number of .45 super rounds through it but never got dependable operation from it. It would be my absolute favorite firearm in 10mm, Anybody listening..... CZ? ........Tangfolio?.......Ruger?

In Kenk's thread about likes and dislikes I found out that the magazines, but for a small hole in the front, were the same as EAA Witness mags. Yay! Something that may be of interest to those who carry their P40 is the Henning Group website. They sell a spring and follower to fit 15 rounds in the flush fit Witness mags for 20 bucks. 1 round might not be a big deal but I figure for SD carry every round extra is a potential life saver. They also sell extended base plate for a 19 round capacity . Pretty pricey but for backup mags and or range time it might be worth getting a few. Here's a link if you're interested. https://www.henningshop.com/

Just thought I'd let everyone that has or is contemplating th Grand Power 10's that there are different capacities available. I love this gun more every day and as soon as I figure out a way to drill the holes in all my Witness mags without screwing something up I'l be set for anything!  ;D

I have come up with another minus for the Grand Power. Extra mags are like hen's teeth. I'm on notification lists from a bunch of mag sellers and haven't had any luck so far. I need more mags!

I hate plastic guns. I hate de-cocker pistols. I hate ambi controls............I LOVE THIS GUN! I didn't want to buy this gun after all the nonsense that went on before the thing was even on the market. I was so ticked that there was no way I was going to get one. I'm sorry but 10mms are kinda' like potato chips. It's not a gun I would have even considered if it weren't a 10 but I got it and I'm glad I did.

I like the way the de-cocker works. I carry it condition 1. I can also put the lever down and easily practice double action only.
The controls are so thin and unobtrusive that the ambi is actually now a good thing in my mind. That crazy angular looking grip on the plastic gun actually fits the hand beautifully.

I've been shooting Underwood practice ammo and 180 and 200 grain hollow points. Runs like a champ. I just spent around 80 bucks for an IWB holster (unheard of amount for me!) Every time I leave the house with pants and a belt, it's on me.

Only criticism I have is the field strip and that's a breeze once I got the hang of it.
If you like 10mm you will like this gun.

Just grabbed a Grand Power 10mm off Bud's. If it runs reliable for me with Underwood, it's light enough and I'm big enough to make it my EDC. I was  considering
a plastic Witness compact for a loooooooooong time but..........I still might give one a try sometime in the future just in case I might get one that works with good ammo.

Not a fan of the funny looking plastic guns with the goofy looking triggers either,(not that I don't believe that they are some of the most reliable handguns ever made) but don't give them TOO much credit for keeping the 1cm alive. Once the round was put into service by law enforcement there were enough guns around to keep it on life support. Changing ammo technology making more effective and more powerful ammunition has come down to the real reason it's making a comeback. Purely a matter of horsepower. Aside from more obscure calibers like 40 super and 9x25 Dillon it's the biggest baddest round useful in a "normal" semi-auto. In these times of pony cars approaching 1000 HP it's pretty apparent that there are a lot of folks that don't necessarily look for the minimum to get the job done. Long live 10mm! ;D

I used a Witness Polymer Compact Carry 10mm as an EDC, right up till it broke a front rail guide at the range. I was thinking of getting a Steel Compact Carry, but was able to get a Grand Power P40 10mm and use that now.

Don't know if I could find or afford a Grandpower in 10mm. Were there any mods done to your polymer compact?

Henning conical guide rod and heavier recoil spring.

Wow. I knew that it could be challenging to make the poly compact run right but I hadn't heard of them breaking. Does anyone know how common a problem it might be?

10mm from a 3.6" barrel will still exceed 40S&W from a full size (4.5"-5.0") barrel.  Might even beat it from a longslide.

Thanks. I almost exclusively use Underwood ammo. Would i be better off going with a lighter bullet weight to keep the velocity up? Especially thinking about XTPs. I don't know if they would expand well in the short barrel in the 200 grain weight that I shoot in my full size.

OK. So I have decided that I want to up my game a bit for my "easy" EDC. I like my Witness steel in 10 and would like a polymer compact in 10 to replace my SAR B6PC in 9mm. But how much better would 10mm be than 10mm Kurz (40 S&W) in a 3.6 inch barrel? Can I find a factory load in 10mm that would be a definite advantage?

My "sometimes" EDC will eventually be a double stack Republic Forge 10mm in a shoulder rig, but that's a ways away!

Congrats! you're gonna love it for sure. A 22 lb. spring might be a bit much combined with the Springco. I use an 18 and she does great with anything Underwood.

You're gonna love it! Congrats. Did you get anything for running full power ammo through it?

I'm pretty happy with a 15 round .45 super but this gun with, like, 17 rounds of 10mm goodness.........that would be a great handgun.

Fusion Firearms Grand Sport 10mm is 16 +1 of "10MM goodness".  Tracy

Very nice pistol but single action (I prefer SA/DA for carry) and quite a bit over my pay grade. The .45 SAR is a 500.00 gun. But yeah, NICE!

They are both derived from the CZ-75 design, but I think the SAR version is a little better than the Witness.  But, I have never shot one so it is a null comparison.

The .45 super I'm shooting out of mine are about the same energy as full power 10mm. If the 10mil version has the same feel and an increased capacity, it would DEFINITELY be the new must have 10. I'm pretty happy with a 15 round .45 super but this gun with, like, 17 rounds of 10mm goodness.........that would be a great handgun. If anyone here has the ability to dig deeper to get info on what was/is the production 10mm SAR offering it might be worthwhile to start some begging by the US masses to get it imported. ;D
