yup, awesome holster.  I wear mine at the 3 O'glock position and it doesn't print.  My only negative feedback is wicked clips which are incredibly stiff.  On that note, they dont come off the belt unintentionally.

Those clips do not move.  I also have the leather loops in case I want to change.  They were not expensive either.

And yes.. I'ma leftie as well.

One other drawback is about a 4 week wait

I have a FourSevens MiniX123.  Awesome firepower for 40 bucks.

I carry quite a few different folders.. My multi tool is a Swiss Army Knife made by Victorinox.  Farme model.  I use it all the time.  Good little knife, handy screw driver and useful saw.  Perfect for me.  It's made with the Alox sides instead of the red plastic.  I use the bottle opener quite a bit.. :)

Gear/Equipment / Glock 20 disappeared

I received an Alien Gear holster for my Glock 20.. I have to say, this is one nice holster for under 40 bucks.  Comfy and I can barely feel it.  No one noticed the missile launcher..  even under a very lightweight shirt.

For an extra 10,bucks I ordered a Glock 19 kydex shell to convert it to the pea shooter.

In all seriousness this is a much better holster than my Crossbreed.  And the cost is way lower.

I want a GP100 in 10mm.  That's what I told him.  :)

I love his vids...  The 50BMG looks like it causes an explosion.  Good slo-mo stuff

I spoke with Mr. Underwood this morning and it appears I was sent product 247 (200 gr Nosler JHP) which is estimated at 1250fps / 694ft-lbs.  These particular loads were packaged in the Delta Elite boxes (product no. 240) by accident.  So what I thought were mild shooting DE loads were actually full charge 200 grainers.  Haha!..

For my trouble,  Underwood gave me a gift certificate to use on a future order.  I'm fine with that.  I was glad he called to figure out what went wrong.  He seemed very concerned and was going to make sure that the mispackaging didn't happen again.  He's a nice guy and his sales person, Ms Brooke Hancock, is very professional as well.   I'll buy from them again.

AlthoughI do not own CheckMate mags in 10mm, I have two in 45acp.  They are as good as it gets.  They make the mags for Colt and their Hybrid 7round mag is what I own.  It has performed flawlessly and the price is a bargain...  I paid about 17 dollars per mag.  A steal.

General Discussion / Re: Introductions

I'm David.. 52.  Married since 87 and have two kids.  I've been an avid shooter since I was a squib load.  Started out with  Crosman 760 and by my 14th year I bought my first firearm.. A Marlin Model 60, which is still with me.  :)
I grew up hunting and was blessed to grow up in south La near Lafayette.  Around 15 , I inherited a side by side 20ga from my grandfather.  It was made by Crescent Firearms in New Orleans.  I still have that one as well.
At 18, I bought a Ruger Security Six.  I learned to reload for it on a RCBS single stage.

I was a firefighter from 1980 to 1987 in Lafayette La.  In 1987 I joined the navy and retired as Chief Petty Officer in 2007.  I was an AG.. Or weather forecaster.

Back in 1994 I bought my very first 1911 (1991A1 Colt Commander) and have been a gun nut since then.  I reload on a Dillon 550.

I've also owned an XD45 but sold it to by the Glock 20.   A few months ago I bought a Glock 19 through the Blue Line program- my first 9mm (seems like a little 25acp after shooting 10mm).

I've also owned an old S&W model 65. But didn't shoot it much at all.. Sold it last year.

I'm on my second AR.. A Windham HBR (M4 style).  Absolutely love it.
I had a Colt AR in the mid 90s when I was shooting on a rifle team in the Navy... Sold it to buy a used car when I transfered.  :)

Also own a Taurus 85 (for the Mrs.) And a Mossberg 500 "home defense shotgun".

I'm living in Slidell and work offshore in the oil and gas industry.  I live right down the road from Shadow. :)

Turn ons:  kittens, puppies, and m&m's.
Turn offs:  commies.

Carry on!!

What do you think the likely velocity was with the 8.8 gr of 800X?  I was worried the heavy bullet could have caused problems with pressure.. But the brass looked fine.   Yeah I'm kind of mad.  When you make a mistake in a load it could go either way.. Lucky for me, nothing bad happened.  Suppose they go the bullet right but screwed up tthe charge??  Or got the charge right but used the wrong powder?  That could have been a bad day for me.

My first UW purchase too.  Im wondering if the high demand for ammo is pushing the employees to exhaustion resulting in errors like this.

If they ran out of 180 grain bullets and used 200 gr bullets thinking no one would care, or notice, as Intercooler mentions,  I'll still be disappointed.   I paid for premium ammo.   I don't think I ended up with that.  I hope they can figure out a way to make this right.

Here's a good video of why it's important to practice holstering:

Especially if carrying loaded.   Be careful out there!

General Discussion / Re: Conceal Carry Question

I always carry with a loaded round..  In my Glocks, 1911, and revolver.

Keep the handgun in a properly designed holster.  For my carry firearms, I carry in holsters designed to fit the model perfectly and hold it securely.  I do not unholster unless I am unloading the ammo.  At night, if I know I'll carry it again the next day, it stays holstered and loaded in a secure place.  If there's no reason to unholster and unload, I don't do it.
I also use holsters that maintain their form while unholstered.. This way if the need to reholster happens you won't have to fight against the holster.. Very important when carrying IWB.

There's plenty of videos on YouTube showing how nearly impossible it is to rack the slide and get a shot off under stress.

Also.. With a 1911, some people panic about their hammer back and safety on with a chambered round and think lowering the hammer manually is the thing to do.   I can't think of a more foolish thing to do... sooner or later you will fire off a round like that.  It will likely happen in your home while getting dressed as well.  Hopefully the round doesn't hit a family member.

Compared to a Glock, lots more has to happen to fire a round in the 1911.  You've got to flick off the safety, you have to depress the grip safety, you have to pull the trigger.

To me, a 1911 is virtually assured not to go off if dropped... If it hits the ground muzzle up, the inertia may cause the trigger to move back, but the same inertia is pulling the grip safety back.  It it drops muzzle down, inertia may force the grip safety down, but the inertia will move the trigger in the opposite direction to fire..   I think that's a neat safety feature.

Practice drawing from cconcealment (with an unloaded firearm) and practice reholstering.  Drawing from concealment has it's issues... You've got to get clothing out of the way quickly and safely.

Reholstering is particularly interesting.  You need to make sure the clothing is out of the way as well. There's some YouTube videos of firearms discharging while reholstering.  Usually it is some artticle of clothing getting pulled into the holster and pulling the trigger ..  Common culprits are the little drawcords on jackets made to adjust the jacket for snug fit around the waist.  I remove them.
