I figured it would be, but the folks over at MechTech say that they have different parts in the 40s and 10s.  As for which ones I couldn't get that out of them.

Does anybody know if it would be possible to rechamber a .40 mech tech upper to 10mm and still run full power loads?

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: Where to order brass.

Thanks for the offers 474/480 and attrapereves but I'm on the other side of the border and your government won't allow it to be shipped up here.   :(

Reloading 10mm ammo / Where to order brass.

As starline is out of stock on 10mm brass, does anybody have any other online resources that they use?  I have fewer than 100 pieces remaining :(

I've heard that 800x meters poorly.  I use a Horniday Powder Measure, will it measure accurately or will I need to get the Powder measure close and trickle the rest of the charge into the case?

Thanks for the input guys.  I'll keep to the high 5s for now until I can get my hands on some slower powder, which is rather hard to do in my area lately.

I have very little experience loading the 10 so I may have some questions that seem silly but I really don't want to blow up my gun, again.

As stated above I'm loading 180gr barrys TMJ .401 bullets and TiteGroup.  currently I'm loading between 5.8 and 6.0 gr but they don't feel as powerful as I've been lead to believe the 10 can be.  6.0 is the max load that I saw on the loading data I was working with but that still seems light.  I know any weights past 6.0 are beyond the "safe" spec, however have any of you had success loading this combo beyond that?

Also, I am using a 10mm Colt Government, not a delta elite, a 38super frame with an aftermarket unmarked slide, with a clark barrel.

Reloading / Re: Tested 45ACP with Red Dot

We also load 5.5 gr of Red Dot, however it's under a 225gr RNFP lead bullet from DRG.  I don't have any hard data on it but from the felt recoil it's just shy of a factory load.  I'm not the most accurate pistol shooter in the world, however the accuracy seems to be on par with any of the factory ammo I've shot.  It's a great plinking round and it has cycled every 1911 that I have ran it through.  This round was developed for SASS Wild Bunch matches, however it has become the only .45 I shoot any more.

Over the winter I shot most of whta I had in reserve and my stockpile has ran low.  I needed to get ready for the summer shooting season, so in the past month I've loaded 38 S&W, 38 Special, 9mm, 10mm, 45 ACP, 45LC, .223, 30-30 and 12g.

Wow, thanks.  I'll give that a read and see what I can figure out.

Gunsmithing / Re: Modifying ejection pattern.

Unfortunately I have no way of knowing if the ejector was changed when the slide was as the original owner's health is fading fast and all of his firearms were being sold by a family friend.  I do plan on measuring the ejector, however I don't know what to do with the information once I have it as I don't have any other .40 or 10mm 1911s to compare it to.

Gunsmithing / Modifying ejection pattern.

I'm going to be adding a set of rails to the underside of my 10mm Colt 1911 so that I can run it with a scope in the near future.  My ejector throws the brass straight up instead of out to the side.  I can foresee this causing some FTE issues if the brass hits the scope mount before it clears the ejection port.  The gun started it's life as a 38 super, then had the slide and barrel switched out.  My barrel was made by clark, but I can't find any markings on the slide.  Does anyone here have any pointers on changing the direction that the shells eject?

Thanks,

S.

Want to buy / 10mm MechTech 1911 in Canada
April 23 2014 06:05:58 PM MDT
I know this is a real long shot, but are there any Canadian members of this forum who may be willing to part ways with their 1911 Mech Tech upper in 10mm?  I know I'm trying to find a needle in a football field of haystacks so I'm not really concerned about which accessories it has as I can always add more when I get one.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the input guys.  I wasn't sure that they would work as I haven't been able to find any published data for either of them in a 10mm cartridge.  I

I've just recently gotten into the 10mm game and need to start reloading for it.  I'll be using 180gr RS jacketed bullets but the only powders that I have currently are Win 748 and Alliant Red Dot.  Does anybody have any good recipes that I could utilize?  These would only be used at the range but I do want to use the power that a 10 can achieve.  Any help would be appreciated.
