My suggestion for the mag not locking the slide back is to take the slide off, insert the slide stop and then the mag. See if the follwer is even making contact with thd stop lug. Steve

I used to one of the guys that mixed it up alot.  Now I only change springs when I have issues.  I would say run with 20/23 unless you have a specific issue, and have reliable information that a different spring will correct said issue.

I agree. New to you. Run several boxes through it and see. Most plinking ammo will be fine with that set up. I run the stock 20 recoil but 25 main. I would put the mainspring back to the 23 but I do shoot an ocassional hot load and simply put a 22 recoil in at that time. my Eclipse likes the 18.5/25 set up. Both have the flat bottom firing pin stops.

Not very well ejucated on RIA pistolas.......I've been glancing around for a 1911, wouldn't mind it being a 10mm.....what are those who have experience with RIA think about this 1911 in a 10mm?
`

I have both the full size and commander neither were perfect out of the box but I still would take either over my kimber.

I, too, have both a Kimber Eclipse and RIA's in 10mm. The Eclipse is a fantastic gun but the Rock is the one I like the best. Out of the box trigger pull is incredible. Steve

I run an 18.5 recoil with a 25 mainspring and a flat bottom firing pin stop.  This combination has been shown in empirical testing to result in a final slide velocity on par with a 1911 in standard form in 45 acp running 230 ball.

I agree that a heavier main spring is the ticket with a lighter recoil. Like 10mmfan, I run a 20# in my Rock and 18.5 in my Eclipse. I run a 25# main in both with flat bottom firing pin stops. Steve

I prefer my RIA Tac2 10mm over my twice as much $ Kimber Eclipse 10mm. It never ceases to amaze me how sweet the trigger is. Steve

The RIA, to me, simply has an amazing trigger right out of the box. I had to work on the Kimber to get it somewhat closer in that regards. The trigger on it was not shabby either. That is why I no longer own a Glock. The front strap checkering on the Kimber is a plus but a piece of skateboard tape on the RIA fixed that. Steve

So, did you leave the mainspring at 25#? That's what I did on my Eclipse but my RIA runs better with a slightly higher recoil spring of 20# and 25# main. Steve

I have since gone back to the 18.5# recoil spring after better educating myself.

I tend to agree. I've got a Kimber, just because I've always wanted one. It'not the TLE, which I've heard are nice. Mine is the Eclipse. It is nice but I tend to carry and shoot the RIA more. I had a minor problem with the Rock on the first box. Mine was an early model that came with an 18 lb recoil spring which caused a damaged reverse plug. They sent a new plug and 20 lb spring. It has run like a clock every since. I put a little heavier spring in when running something stout.
Concerning the spring, the Rock does not l7ke the 18 but the Kimber does. I did change the mainspring on both to 25#. Steve

Mine was an early one and it was a lemon. That being said working all the kinks out of it got me attached to it, I would sell my kimber before my ria.

This is an interesting statement because I was thinking the same thing. Then I read 10mmfan statement. I have both the RIA and  a Kimber Eclipse. I should have never bought the Kimber but it is just plain purty. I love them both but I do believe I can shoot the Rock better. I love the Rock so much I had it black nitride treated. It is very accurate. Other than the black nitride treatment, I put a steel mainspring housing and a barrel supporting reverse plug. That's it. "Entry level gun"??? Personally it looks and feels as good as any name brand that you might spend four and five times as much for. Steve

Darn, all I have is a 20mm. An Eclipse and a RIA. Believe it or not, since I had the black nitride treatment done to the Rock, it has become my favorite. The trigger is so nice.

BUT..... your collection is very nice. I like that Omega. Steve

I have to say, even though I carry the Rock, I've been two timing the 10's because of this new .22TCM I've acquired.

I can vouche for both the Kimber and the Rock Island. I like the RI so much, I sent it off to have the black nitride treat ment. Both are very nice. Steve

I have both the RIA and the Kimber Eclipse in 10mm. Both came with Metalform mags plus I ordered two from Armscor for a total of 4. All run fine in both. Steve

Here are both. Today, I took a look at the ignition components of the Kimber. Didn't like the looks of the sear. Put it in my True Radius sear jig. Touched it up with a ceramic stone. Did the hammer hooks as well to confirm 90 degrees. Tweaked the searr spring a tad. Got the trigger somewhat better. Gonna try it out Mon. Steve

I can shoot this Rock better than my Eclipse, mainly because the trigger is simply amazing. The Kimber is being tweaked, though. Steve
I thought the sights might have to be tweaked according to the bore sighter......but I think I'll leave them alone. This was at 10 yds.

Sights, springs and such had to be removed. I debated on getting the barrel done but decided to go ahead. I went ahead and did the magwell even though it will probably never go on. Steve
