Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: Want to load Lead bullets!!

I've just been using Power Pistol and BE-86 and Rim Rock Bullets. Everything ends up with good accuracy no matter what I try, unless I happen to be shooting like crap that day.

Factory 10mm ammo / Re: Underwood Ammo with Bad Primers?

How many rounds have you run through the gun? Might be time to replace the striker spring. I do it every 500 rounds in my Glock 20 or else I start getting light strikes.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Glock 20 double feed
September 09 2015 07:20:53 PM MDT
So this thing's been running like a champ for over 1000 rounds with my reloads and handloads. I replace the striker spring every 500 rounds and the recoil spring every 1000. I'm about 100 rounds into a new striker spring and 400 or so into this recoil spring. Yesterday while shooting I had a double feed. Not the extraction failure double feed, but one live round was 3/4 of the way into the chamber, and one from the magazine jammed right up into it. Tap rack didn't work. I had to clear the gun entirely and both rounds fired well. Ammo all felt the same...and I really don't suspect it was the culprit.

So...what causes a double feed? Was this just an extreme fluke? All of these magazines have been working great...

I had issues with two G20's (Gen 4 and then SF) with Underwood, DoubleTap, etc, until I started to load my own ammo. I'm about 500 rounds into full power 10mm loads without a single problem. I even watched a completely novice female shooter shoot half of mag from it, barely holding the gun, and still no problems. There was one type of bullet it didn't like, 220gr wide noses, but it eats the 200gr Beartooths like candy, which are even wider.

I wish I hadn't gotten rid of the Gen 4.

Did you use lube on the cases?

If so, you might want to tumble the loaded cartridges for about 5-10 to clean off the lube. I used to have this problem until I started doing this.

There are very few "frauds" out there, but most are only old data using newer loads or components that don't meet the old standard (Double Tap is one example). For the most part, manufacturers claims are very accurate. Ultimately, the problem is, you are not shooting with their test equipment. If a manufacturer states a specific round will perform in a specific weapon, it usually will. Barrel lengths, chamber dimensions and action timing vary from mfg to mfg, and so will the performance results. None of this takes into account weather and atmospheric conditions.

It seems like manufacturers always use the longest barrel possible and barely anybody runs a setup like that.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: 10mm and Alliant BE-86

Finally tested the muzzle flash at night.

The Gold Dot 9mm, HST 40, and HST 45 all seemed to have the same flash signature.

The BE-86 10mm, not so much. It was much brighter. Next time I might compare it with a Power Pistol load to see if it's actually any better than that. It was not blinding by any means, but still much brighter than the LE loads for the big three.

One of the best decisions I ever made was to get ride of broadcast in my home.  No Antennae, no dish.  We get all our news online, and I have learned not to read articles that don't link to reputable sources for their information.

It is amazing how much BS gets filtered that way.

What is a reputable source?

Factory 10mm ammo / Re: Freedom Munitions 10mm

Ha! I once screwed up a batch of .40S&W and it chrono'd over 1100. That stuff had some recoil, sad it was stronger than what somebody passes off as 10mm.

Seems like I have read that during pre-revolution colonial times there was an effort to ban the Brown Bess because it lacked the accuracy of a decent hunting arm, but could be quickly (for the time) reloaded.  As a result it was considered to be a purely military arm for which "civilians" had no use.

And who was trying to do that? England?

Overtime it would be cheaper to buy a KKM barrel and use reloads.

Even then liberal media outlets like LA times routinely say the court was wrong on the 2nd amendment, they are right, and it only applies to the national guard when you are on guard duty.

Thanks, I got it now. "Shall not be infringed" refers to being on National Guard duties. You just gotta read between the lines a teensy weensy bit to find it.

Let's examine this asinine claim for a moment.

So if I join the National Guard, then I joined the Militia that the 2nd Amendment is referring to. At that point, do all of these gun laws no longer apply to me? Is that when "Shall not be infringed" takes effect?

The old Underwood achieved 1300 FPS with 9.4gr's. It makes sense these come up short by a decent amount.

Doesn't stop his website from saying 1300fps.

I see it as glock 40 for hunting animals and glock 29 for people theres no reason to own a model20 now?

I carry a 20 frequently. What does that do to your point?
