General Discussion / Re: What is your next handgun?

Probably a gen 3 glock 26 here when my lc9s sells.. or an lcp and a bunch of reloading supplies.
Not a whole lot of difference in concealabillity between the 26 and my 23 really.

My glock 23 conceals better than the bond derringer I had and even with a spare mag the glock feels lighter. That bond felt like a steel block in my pocket.
I have an lc9s now but it's for sale, going back to a glock 26 or 27

General Discussion / Re: Who's buying a gun now?

There is a gun show this weekend here, so I may buy something. I have an extra ar upper that's lonely so it may get its own receiver. Or who knows, I'm always looking for strays to fix up for my collection.

I currently use the LA Police Gear tactical bailout bag as my range bag.   This thing has some great storage!  Link provided:   http://www.lapolicegear.com/tabaoutbag.html for $19.99

Since I usually take several guns to the range for myself and my son, I've been thinking about upgrading to this one - the jumbo version. http://www.lapolicegear.com/lapg-jumbo-diaper-bag.html for $29.99.   Diapers just happen to fit in pouches designed for AR mags.   :)
I use one of their bags also, the "zombie hunter" one.. I do not pack lightly either and it's held up well so far

A tip to save money on shipping with them, look at the section of items that ship free and hit sort by price. Add the cheapest thing there, often a dollar or two and it will on average knock about $5 off the shipping total. It's saved me around $60 this year.

I have a lot of orange fleece gloves.  ;D

.

I only have 2 pair myself

General Discussion / Re: Bass Pro Shops Buying Cabela’s

I really like cabelas but loathe bass pro, you can't ever get help and their prices are way too high on most things. Service at the one here is even worse than lowes and home depot

No distributor has had any for nearly two years now i think, i had a buddy looking for me one and he struck out.
I would be suspicious of a site that has new ones that are not a sf model.

You may can get a 20sf in gen 3, but the regular 20 gen 3 has not been made for a while now.

Between glock and rock island, i would not hesitate to go with glock... My gen 3 20 is one of my favorites. My 3 favorite semi autos are all glocks, so yeah i am little biased.  ;D

I buy a good bit from them and have nothing but good to say about how fast they ship and customer service. I think it's been 3 times I've had to contact their customer service, I know twice for stuff broken in shipping. Both of those times they sent out replacements next day shipping. once was something mis shipped and they sent me a ups label and again sent the correct thing next day.

If you have a problem with their customer service, email the owner.. I bet it works.
it has for me with a couple other businesses.

Nice shot! I use an air rifle or pistol close to the house for "pest control", as well.

Just a word of caution....
Rats are smart. They don't willingly expose themselves to danger, such as lingering in the open for any length of time. If one, or several are doing that, something is wrong, with the rats. Rabies and other communicable diseases can cause them to do that. If you kill one and are able to collect it, maybe call animal control. Wear disposable gloves or use a tool (shovel). Bleach the area of the kill, any blood spill, and anything that comes in contact with them. And keep your pets away from them! I dispose of them by burning, but that may not be possible in all areas.
Yuk! Forgot about this.......But very true.

When I helped my grandfather on his dairy farm as kid, he said if a skunk/rat/opossum were out during the day...kill'm....they were sick. There were a few times, absent being startled, he had to dispose  them promptly, then sprayed the area with bleach water.

Same goes for raccoons.

You will need to lightly blast it again when you get the right color, aluminum starts oxidizing immediately after blasting

and btw, a mossberg 500 mag tube is steel not aluminum. I have cut several down from an 8 shot version to make one for the shorter tube guns

I want that same setup on my 20, but I haven't shot my 20 in almost a year now so it wouldn't get used enough to justify the expense.
