It sounds like If I just wanted to convert the gun from .40 to 10mm all you would need is to ream the chamber to 10mm and maybe add a heavier recoil spring. Would anything else need to be done?

You will get lots of opinions on this.  Ream and it will go bang.  You will then have to test for reliability.

When I converted mine, in addition to reaming I made other changes.  These were to address longevity.

I replaced the recoil spring with a wolff spring, a 24# I believe.  I also replaced the mainspring.  I think it was 25#.  And, I replaced the firing pin stop with an EGW oversized and left it flat bottomed.  I have since gone back to the 18.5# recoil spring after better educating myself.

That's a definite given.  I was gonna go with a springco recoil reducer and a 22# to start and go down from there after I get the load right.

Yes, that is absolutely doable.  However, I have one of my progressives set up with bullet and case feeder to shuck out 40's by the bucket.  I also have two 55 gallon drums of 40 brass.  I want to use 40 for practice and 10 for defense.

The 40 mags that come with the gun will allow 10mm.  I contacted RIA about having a 40 fitted with a 10mm barrel.  Their response was to buy the gun then send it to the factory where they will fit a 10mm barrel to it.  Sorry, but I don't think I will send it to the factory for a month when I could fit the barrel myself in a day.
Supposedly the Mecgar P16/40 mags are what the gun comes from the factory with.

Would like to be able to have both calibers so I can use 40 for practice.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Rock Island double stack 10mm

Has anyone taken one of the new RI 40 S&W double stacks and converted it to 10mm?  Seems like an interesting upgrade.

I'd like to see an XDM in 10mm. Wouldn't mind owning a 10mm upper for my m4's

General Discussion / Re: I built a target stand

Just a suggestion. You could drill some holes just behind the elbow on the bottom and attach some of those small wheels for a push mower.  Then you can just tilt it forward and roll it. With those buckets of cement on the bottom it ain't going anywhere.

Handguns / Re: Which .22 Automatic?

Bullseye shooters consider the old pre-70 High Standard pistols like the Victor as the standard by which all others are judged.
Since 1970 the standard for accuracy has been the S&W 41 as intercooler stated. However, if you aren't looking to pay a grand for a 22 pistol, go with one of the higher end Buckmarks
It's easy to breakdown, excellent trigger, very accurate and great ergonomics.

As far as the others you listed go.
Beretta makes the 87 which is decent, but I've never liked them.
I love Ruger but they are a PIA to breakdown and if you want the trigger to feel as good as the Buckmark, it's gonna cost you.
New High Standards are not built to the same level as the old ones.
Colt hasn't made a decent 22 since the old Match guns.

This is just my opinion. You've got to shoot what feels right to you. As an old bullseye shooter I am very demanding in the accuracy and trigger department.

General Discussion / Re: What would you do . . .

Why would your friend want to spend his/her hard earned money in a communist state? It would make me sick to know that my money is supporting their system.
I'm certain that all the criminals in Maryland obey the law and don't possess firearms either.  That's why there violent crime rate is sooooooo low.

There are plenty of other free states with nicer beaches. Why don't come down south and hang out on one of our beaches. Hell, you can even wear your gun to the beach down here.

I use a cement mixer filled with a big bag of Lizard Litter (crushed walnut) from Petsmart. Then I pour in a 50/50 mixture of odorless mineral spirits and Nufinish car wax. Toss in a couple used dryer sheet and let it run for about 45 minutes.  It will look like factory finish.

Nice. The lizard litter is the same stuff I bought, it was 17 bucks and some change for the biggest bag they had, probably 25lbs or so. I thought my motor was heavy duty but I believe a cement mixer takes the cake! You mix the spirits and wax in with the brass and walnut and run it (I feel ike this would make sort of a slurry, aka mess) or do you remove the walnut and then run the brass with spirits/wax? I know you said mixture is 50/50, how much is the mineral spirits volume wise?

Guess I need to explain a little better.
I open a new bottle of NUFINISH wax and pour half of it into another container to save till later.
Then I top off the now half bottle of NUFINISH with odorless mineral spirits, shake well.
Turn on the mixer with 25 lbs of lizard litter in it and gradually add the 50/50 wax mixture.
Obviously when you first pour in the wax it will clump a little but will quickly go away.
Now add about a 5 gallon bucket of dirty brass and let it run till shiny.
FWIW I took the steel paddles out of the mixer and made some out of kydex.

Not sure what to tell you. I really like them. Nice and crisp, but you can make them even better with a little polishing.

Do you make them?

I really like Longshot, but Accurate seems popular as well.
