Factory 10mm ammo / Re: Underwood Ammo with Bad Primers?
September 23 2015 12:35:12 PM MDT
I have a stock 29 gen 3.  I had a failure to fire/light strike/bad primer on an Underwood 180 Gold Dot a few years ago.  It only happened once but the primer looked a lot like the picture above.

No idea if the gun or the round were at fault.  I will say it was the within the first 100 rounds through the 29 and it was right after I fixed a return to battery issue with a new recoil spring.

I've also had an issue with the slide not locking back after the last round, but I believe that is user error......

Some people with equipment not equal to that performance were having issues and Kevin backed them off.

When I purchased the Underwood, it stated it was safe for Glock.  So I'm assuming that my stock 29 is still ok for the older "hotter" stuff?

Factory 10mm ammo / "Old" vs "New" Underwood

Hey guys!  So in a few other threads I see that Underwood has "backed off" on some of its loads.  When did this happen?  I have a bunch of  Underwood purchased in 2012 and 2013 that I occasionally shoot out of my stock G29....I've never had a problem and am not worried about a kB (should I be...??), I'm just curious what I have.

I don't know nearly as much as others on this board....but I will say I have a bone stock gen3 29sf that has seen a lot of Underwood with no problems whatsoever.   Personally don't see the need for a bunch of aftermarket parts.

ammunitiondepot.com has the 155 as well (got a box a few weeks ago, works great in the 29).....they specifically list it as 9122.

Time to take off the tin foil hat guys.....

Underwood makes a good product.
Sales are good.
The competition is average.
Prices go up.

God Bless Capitalism!!

Factory 10mm ammo / Underwood change

Looks like UA has 20 count along with the 50 count in the 10mm now.  Of course the 20 count is more per round than the 50, and as of right now there are only 20 count available.

I would rather they raise the prices and give us 50, hopefully the present inventory is not indicative of future availability.

QuoteThis "O" Communist Government Gone Wild for control and money, have jacked the fuel prices up.

I payed $3.79 a gallon today for gas....in June of 2008 I was paying $3.70-$3.90.  While I'm no fan of 'O', not sure how we blame him.

Underwood was plentiful a few months ago....it goes to show that one should buy when they can....Strike when the irons hot.

I like the idea of having different power levels. Those subsonic, FBI loads are basically a .40 and seem ideal for urban home defense or taking a CC course. To me it is like shooting .38+P out of a .357, bascially two guns for the price of one.

Agreed.

Don't let these "full power or nothing" cowboys make you think you are less of a man because you're comfortable with a 180 grains going 980fps and not 1150......

"If you are going to shoot the weak stuff, you should just buy a 40".....they say....

I guess it's not just the democrats who are trying to tell me which gun I shouldn't have.

Well, why buy a 10mm if you are only going to shoot .40 S&W power stuff in it?

Don't think anyone said they ONLY shoot the watered down stuff.

I want a firearm that will shoot a 180 grain JHP at 950fps....then 3 seconds later shoot one around 1300fps.

lts like putting a 4x4 emblem on your rear wheel drive truck or something.

Shooting non-full power is like driving a 4x4 in 2 wheel drive....you don't ALWAYS need 4x4 capabilities, but it's nice to have it available at a push of a button.

I keep my G29 at bedside with hydrashoks in it....yea its not 10mm power it's exactly .40 power...but if I need to use it in the middle of the night (or if my wife does) I want a soft shooter with little muzzle flash.

Next to my G29 I have mags full of Underwood 200 XTP, Underwood 200 FMJ and Silvertips (my carry load)....so I can get full power at anytime.

Versatility is the name of the game.
