Title: 200 gr NOE WFN in XDM?
Post by: HNDLDR on November 23 2020 08:20:54 PM MST
I'm sorry if this has been covered already. I did a search and couldn't find any info.
I would like to run the Montana Bullet Works 10mm 200gr NOE WFN PB out of my 4.5" XDM.
Has anyone ran this bullet through an XDM. I'd like to know I can at least make it cycle before I order the bullets.

I would think that if the COL was correct for that style bullet it would feed fine, but I'm sure others could answer more accurately

I've never tried the bullets you're interested in. I have used the RMR 180 fmj in my XDM 10 quite a bit. They have a very wide meplat compared to other bullets. No issues at all with the RMRs. Good luck!

I guess I'll just have to send off an order and find out.

The closest I can co.e is Underwood's 200gr and 220gr hardcast and both of those function fine in my XDm 4.5 OSP.

I've got 250 coming so I guess we'll see.

I run NOE 200 grain WFN that I cast in all my 10mm's, which would include Glock 20/29, Witness full-size and Elite Match and four different 1911's.  Only the 1911's seem finicky about it.  And they only have issues if the COAL is above 1.250".  The_Shadow has several posts about how tipping point (angle) can impact feeding, especially on older designs that do not present the cartridge as close to the bore axis.

Thank you for the reply's. So far it's looking pretty positive that they will work well in the XDM with the right COAL.

Bullets came in. They seemed to feed from the magazine just fine at 1.25". I've got some loaded up in .2gr increments of AA#9. Hopefully a quick trip to the range tomorrow morning will give me an idea where I'm at with things.

Evening Hndldr,
Unless you've tried them already, or are unavailable in your area, you should consider trying some Blue Dot, or BE-86 with these bullets. Enjoy and be safe!

Ken

I have a 20 plus year old bottle of Blue Dot that I've loaded with some 180 HAP bullets. I was happy with the results but I wasn't sure I wanted all the fire ball effect of Blue Dot with these loads. I've never looked for or played with BE-86. I'll look up some loads for it and maybe I'll try it out. I did see some Longshot in the store today. I know a lot of people are using it in their 10mm loads.

For sure, BD makes for some big fire. If you can get past that, it's one of my most accurate loads

All test loads functioned 100% at 1.25". Final velocity was 1216fps out of my 4.5" XDM with 22 pound spring. Could probably go hotter but I'm not sure how much more #9 I can fit in a Starline case. I wanted a 1200fps load out of the 4.5" barrel and I got it so I'm happy. ES was 18 but only 3 shots were measured (My chrono has been testy lately and needs replaced.)

I ran the Arsenal Molds 403-200 WFN - PC bullets through my XDM-10 at 1,111 fps using Blue Dot yesterday with no issues, COAL of 1.244".  If I load 'em out any longer, they sometimes hang up in my SR1911-10.

Is that a .300 meplat?

Any suggestions on the same or similar 200 grain hard cast bullet, with Long Shot?  Have 1000 bullets sized .401, by only 1 lb of Long Shot, or lots of unique and 231.

Load data appreciated with this fine bullet.  Gun is a Ruger SR-1911 Target 5".  If I could find BD I would use it.  I have two XD autos, but none in 10mm.  Love the XD format.

My Arsenal Molds 403-200 WFN - PC bullet runs great at around 1,150fps in my SR1911-10 with BD, so my data says that 8.0gr Longshot runs at that velocity for me, but I haven't run the LS through my SR1911-10 for an accuracy check.
