Title: Glock 20 longslide 6.6
Post by: jdub1836 on April 02 2013 04:00:57 PM MDT
So I just got traded for a glock 20 long slide. I freaking love it and the 10mm it is so bad it's my first of many to come. I'm new to the site and it is saying the pic is too large to post. Anyway, its the hunting camo patterned one that was on here before just minus the burris and the comp. I wasn't planning on putting either back on. I do have the OEM adjustable rear sights but as you all know the glock front sight is pretty big. I was combat effective with my g19 at 100 yards but I want to be able to hit a hog almost every time at that distance.

What are my options here. I don't like the way the red dots look and I use the gun while spot lighting hogs from a vehicle at night in South Texas so they get beat up as well. A buddy of mine as a rmr with the triangle ridicule and
I'm not sure it would increase my distance. Although I guess it was sighting in for the tip of that triangle it would be pretty small and not cover up as much as the open sights.

I want to get a night sight on just the front blade but I heard there was some issues about that with the LW long slide. Also will any types be smaller than the stock front sight? I do notice that there is a bigger gap in the rear adjustable sight that does help see targets at a distance.

Sorry about the long text and your comments will be valued, I will sum it up.
-Is a fast fire going to stretch my distance for hunting?
-What are some other options that are better for under 300?
-What front sights and night sights do you guys have on your long slides?
-What are some better rear adjustable sight options? Or adjustable night sights?
THANKS GUYS-Johnny

I don't have a longslide (yet) and none of my 10mm guns have adjustables but I have heinie straight 8's on my G29. The tritium dots are smaller than others and make me more accurate than with factory type sights. I haven't measured the heinie front sight, it may be close to oem. As far as optics, I don't use any right now but I did have a cheap aimpoint red dot knock off on a ruger MK III that would knock a squirrel out the top of a hickory tree.

My Fusion Firearms Custom made 1911 is a 6" long slide, has Fiber Optic pipe front sight, adjustable rear. My Dan Wesson Razorback has adjustable Crimson Trace laser grips.

I have a Buris FastFire II on a Glock 35 Unlimited I built for GSSF.  It is a nice sight as opticals go for the $.  All my other target pistols have a fiber optic front blade from Dawson, and I do love those.  I can't speak for 100 yard shots, but I went with the 3 MOA dot and taking my time, freehand, at 30 yards, I am more accurate than with open sights.  So I'd guess it would pretty well at 100 on something as big as a hog.
