Post by: GIDave on July 19 2020 12:10:06 PM MDT
Does anyone have experience with an Olympic Arms 10mm AR-style upper?

Thanks

Have RMR Extreme upper not Olympic

Is the Olympic a direct impingement upper also or blow back?

I had one about 15 years ago.  It ran perfectly.

Looks like a blowback.

I bought it new from Oly in 2013 and paired it with a Rock River lower. No offense to RR or those who like RR, but it never really felt right on the Oly upper. Now I'm looking for a substitute AR lower to mate with the Oly upper. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I like Aero precision mostly. Always in spec. Finding one in stock is issue right now. (Any brand)
You need to ask your self about mags or does Olympic use std AR mags with an adapter. QC 10 lowers have glock mags. But then new bolt.

The Olympic Arms 10mm upper is fed by an Olympic magazine, I'm assuming proprietary. They are about the same dimensions as a standard AR-style 5.56mm or comparable magazine.

The magazines are stamped "OLYMPIC 10MM 18 RD" or "OLYMPIC 10MM 10 RD" in smaller script, with large, indented OLYMPIC ARMS on both sides.

The rounds seem to be unstaggered when loading, with a very stiff spring.

The Olympic upper is in good shape but stagnant ... Looking for a good lower.

Sounds like any AR lower will do. Do you have any other ARs to try out. (Swap)

if you want a good inexpensive lower, I've bought several from Palmetto State Armory. never had a problem with any of them.

The original 10mm Olympic mags were actually 41AE UZI mags with a block welded to the back.

Why not just pair the Olympic upper with an Olympic lower?
