Title: PMC Eldorado Starfire 180gr HP
Post by: Intercooler on March 28 2013 02:28:09 PM MDT
Got them today and will see what they give tomorrow. Shadow and Chopinbloc will get them for their tests.

Curious to see if we can ID what powder PMC uses.

More than a couple boxes of those have gone down the throats of my Deltas years ago.... Where did you find them?

I remember those years ago, before the 180's the they use to stuff the 170 grain bullets.

Hopefully Shadow ducks in here but found a couple of things interesting.

The new Underwood which I received this week has the Silver CCI primers versus the older stuff having the Brass colored Winchester primers. In both 10's the new stuff tested lower. I can't remember if I sent Shadow the old original round nose FMJ to see powder charge or not? At any rate most all the time Kevin's 180's are 1300+ and usually about 1320-1330 FPS but today I had some below 1300 of the new stuff. Does the Winchester primer do a better job on the powder? I would guess his switch right now is what he can find.

Also this is my second different box of Winchester Silvertips and none have pushed a 175 into the 600lb range. Off that club now!

The PMC stuff is weak like the Black Talons so they may do decent in Chopinbloc's gel regardless.

Thanks for testing the IC!  LOL, I guess there isn't much to say since them being out of production pretty much says it all.

PMC is a Company I would buy a box just to test but no interest in shooting it. I just got .44 Mag Starfire today to see if they can load those decently. As for the 10's maybe they were just never told what an acceptable 10mm level should be. That may also be why this one was discontinued!
