Title: I absolutely LOVE this P220 10mm!!!
Post by: Overkill338 on March 19 2020 07:52:25 PM MDT
I finally caught a break between the rains today, and I'm feeling a little better, so I got to shoot my baby again. Only my 2nd time shooting it. 10 yards, slow fire. My Underwood order came today. I had ordered 155, 180, and 200 XTPs, and 180, and 200 Noslers. I loaded the Mag with 5 rounds, because I'm not completely over this, and my congested lungs leave me a little winded lol

Anyway, they fired in ascending order: 155 XTP, 180 XTP, 200 XTP, 200 Nosler, and a 220 Hardcast. I also like how the point of impact is nearly identical. I was noticing the brass pinging off something. After I got done, I seen it was throwing the brass 30 to 35 feet !  :o It was pinging off the gravel in the neighbors driveway. I don't understand, the spring is HEAVY, but I don't know how many lbs it is. Any ideas fellers?

Let me state this again, I don't like this gun, I freakin' love it ! I'm not sure my wife won't be giving up her pillow for my baby "Nitron Beauty" 🙂

Thanks! It's sad because I have that $369 P320 for carrying, and beat around. Yet after I got the P220, I haven't carried anything but the big Ten since lol

I have to agree with you on the SIG 220's.  Here is my SAO Elite when new.

I liked it so much I bought this 220 6" X Gun, German made at the Mastershop in 45 ACP.  You would love this gun.

Here is the factory test target on the 45.

5/8" at 25 meters

Beemer, very nice guns, wouldn't it be nice to have a 6" 220 chambered in 10mm?

That is one of the reasons I put that post up.  That 45 is probably the nicest shooting pistol I have ever shot.

I transfer guns through my Gunsmith.  He builds 1911 pistols, mostly Bullseye style target stuff.  He is a Master Class shooter and has won that class at Camp Perry, he shot a 2620.  He had never seen one of the SIG Mastershop 220's and he thought that was as nice a pistol as he has ever examined.

It is an expensive pistol and I would hate to start converting something that shoots that good!

I love the 6" gun! I actually looked for a 6", but I wanted a Sig Sauer.  Hopefully KKM or someone on their level will produce us a 6" option.

Try BarSto. They definitely make extended & treaded 10mm barrels for your 220.
Not sure about 6" ones

Good product. Not cheap

Just want to wake up the thread.
I picked up a 220sse last year. Easily my softest shooting 10mm.
I had to switch the grips out for a set like yours as the rosewood grips were slicker than salmon.
Trigger took a few hundred rounds to break in, but it's very nice, now. I do wish the pre travel was about half of what it is.. just don't feel like spending the money on a GG trigger or something of the like.
Curious if you've had any issue with the rear sight coming loose?
Mine came loose the first time out, and I discovered Sig only has a single set screw to anchor it. I cleaned and re-loctited it, but after speaking with another guy with a similar issue on the Sig forum, I think I'm going to drill and tap a second hole to help secure the sight.

It does not need a second screw. My rear sight adjustment was stripped in the gun shop. Sig sent me a new rear sight, and I used standard Blue Loctite, and it has not budged since. If mine ever does, I'll put Red Loctite on it.

From the factory, it has very little "Guntite" which is a weaker Blue the way I understand it. If you drill a new hole, Sig will not Warranty your sight.

Yea, mine came with a glob of red, I assumed, loctite. Though, it acted like it was applied to an oily surface. Would make sense that it wasn't actually loctite.
I have blue in it, now, I believe, but I have only a few hundred rounds through it since remounting it.

My 220 came with what amounts to a sliding rear sight. It would have required removing the entire assy and fitting plus restaking the adjustment pivot. I took a more drastic step since I needed to fix 2 areas. I used a high performance super glue with filler. I may have to replace the rear sight any how as it is a huge flat "blade" good for paper targets but kess useful for hunting. At any rate mild heat will release the bond without any damage. The menu for locktite sometimes gets too complicated.
They certainly do toss bras though dont they. I reload most ammo and brass loss is a real factor here. 25 to 30 feet is the norm for ejected brass. There is a small increase in distance with increases in power.

Yesterday I was in a shop that had a 220 in .45 with some goodies like a .22 conversion kit. NICE gun, but I'm no longer interested in .45's and had to let it pass.

I told a buddy about it and he is going to see it so I'll get to shoot it if he buys it.

I have the SIQ P 220 Elite Hunter 10MM. This is a very accurate 10MM. It is a single action single stack cero coated camo finish..

I had the same problem with the rear adjustable "target" sight coming loose all the time on my 220 SAO 10mm.   flopping all over the place before a range session was complete.   blue loctite was not enough.   Since it was still only a couple of weeks old.   I sent it back to Sig.   Received it back in 2 weeks and the rear sight is locked down solid.   Have been to the range at least 15 or so times since i got it back and it has no play in it.

Have wanted the P220 camo 10mm for some time, the only draw back that I can see is its low capacity
Thanks

Ken

The magazine for the P220/45ACP works fine and holds ten rounds of 10.

You're welcome. I must say though that I've never been able to envision a realistic scenario where I'd need more than nine rounds of Underwood 10. Perhaps if I lived in one of those "liberated" cities I'd feel differently.

This is my favorite SIQ 10MM P-220. The Elite Hunter it takes Max loads so easy.
