I just got the product in stock email from Midway 5 minutes ago and ordered mine.
Winchester Silvertip Defense Ammunition 10mm Auto 175 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Case of 200 (10 Boxes of 20)
Product#: 735824
$169.99
Good round, old standard.... but new is a bit weaker than old stock.
But still a valid carry round
Yep, they can be hard to find unless it's getting close to deer season. Maybe that's changed
Nothing is as good as it used to be unfortunately.
It's a true fact
I wish they still Offered them to us reloaders!!!
I still hoard my tiny supply!! Awesome at 13oo + FPS!!
CW
It would be, who know maybe one of these days they will again.
They're advertising them at 1200 fps now, so I was thinking they changed them some. Winchester emailed me back and said they have not changed a thing about the Silvertips.
I'm wondering if Winchester is producing them year around now. As recently as last year, the owner of my favorite large gun shop told me they are unavailable until the first part of September, as they are a big deer hunting rd, but otherwise there isn't enough demand for Winchester to produce them year around. After doing some searching online, the majority of ammo outlets are out of stock
Thanks
Ken

Midway has some, but I skipped over them. I have 165 Gold Dots from Underwood in my Big Sig. The Silvertips perform very well to be such an old design I just was not ready to pay $28 for 20 rounds.
Absolutely, especially when you can get UW's 165gr Gold Dots are $18.50

I went for a variety approach from Underwood this time. I've got the Noslers in 135, 150, 180, and 200. The XTPs in 155, 180, and 200, and the 200, and 220 hardcast. As well as the 165 Gold Dots.

No sir, it
DID NOT :P . Just the writing on the box. 1290 fps rating was derived from a 5.5" proof barrel. That rating relates to no production 10mm pistol. The 1200 fps rating was derived from a 4.4" - 4.60" barrels. The powder type, primer, and charge weight, hasn't changed in 35 years.
Don't ever go cliff diving, until you know how deep the water is hehe :D

I was just in my local Cabela's and found Silvertips sitting on the shelf (which I've never seen before) for $17. There were only 3 boxes so I took all 3 at that price.
