Was cleaning my SR1911-10 after a range session and discovered that the barrel lower lug is cracked. I can see daylight clean through it. Sent a note to Ruger, and I await their response. I'm sure glad it didn't come apart as I was shooting it. Have you ever heard of this happening?

Haven't had that happen but it doesn't look good. Hope to hear Ruger's response.
That is definitely a manufacturing flaw. I am sure Ruger will make it right.
You are not the first for this to happen to

Ruger replaced Wayno's pistol.
eta I think Davidsons actually replaced it. Ruger "repaired" it but he was having other problems with it.
Just curious, what ammo were you shooting?

About 1,150 rounds of mostly full power ammo. I've shot alot of the SIG ball ammo, too.
This sucks let us know how it goes. I have one and getting close to 1k rounds through it. Though I changed out the recoil spring for a stiffer recoil spring and put a wilson shok buffer in it. I know shok buffers is a solution looking for a problem but considering they were free to me I see it as an ounce of prevention.
Please let us know how ruger handles.
Called Ruger, they sent me FedEx label. Will be going back to the Mothership. I'll provide an update.
She arrived back from the Mothership on Monday, just shy of 2 1/2 weeks, no cost to me. The barrel was replaced, 35 rounds of 180gr HAP Black Hills shot through her without incident, and sent back on her merry way. No other details provided, but Ruger sent me the obligatory silicone cloth. I could not detect any changes to the bbl design, but difficult to know for sure not having both side-by-side. One minor change was rounded edges on the top of the bbl on both sides of the witness hole. Oh yeah, one other difference; the feed ramp was polished, baby butt smooth. Original bbl was a little rough. Looks good, we'll see if issue never recurs. Happy with Ruger's handling of the matter.
