Title: Carry insurance, a good idea or a waste of money
Post by: Kenk on January 18 2020 11:47:31 AM MST
Do any of you waste your money on  carry insurance like I do? Of all the companies that offer this, USCCA seems to be one of the better ones
Thanks

Ken

Section B, paragraph 2, line d, of their membership agreement makes it seem a bit sketchy to me. I don't use them.

I do have 2 neighbors/friends that are criminal defense attorneys. One often asks me for input in firearms/ammo related questions. Yes, some weird stuff can come up in court relative to SD shootings. Thankfully, not very often in my area.

Thanks Graybeard, I did a huge amount of research on different outfits like this, and USCCA kept coming up on top; may-haps I have made a bad judgement call

USCCA certaily has aggressive solicitation.  After researching what could be researched by an online fool, we decided that the "Gun Owners Legal Defense group was less odious than the others. So farthere has been no need to use the service and I pray it stays that way.

Most insurance policies have conditions under which they will not pay. Those conditions are usually clearly defined, in their favor. It seems strange to me that they will front bond costs but have no obligation to cover criminal defense, without any further definition.

It would seem to me that whoever is actually paying the tab is directing the defense. I have seen this play out in civil cases. That said, I have no idea of the real world performance of this group. It would be nice to see their win/loss record and the number of cases they've declined to pay for.

Thanks man, I will call and see if I can get this info. I really dislike getting duped when it comes to anything

Afternoon Graybeard, I contacted USCCA regarding success rates, and or other important statistics. The below info is what they provided...I'm not surprised  that they offered such little info, but they were prompt, responding within hours on a Sunday.

This is a long read, there's some sales pitch in it. https://lawofselfdefense.com/uscca-sued-in-federal-court-refused-to-cover-platinum-member/ Again, I don't use USCCA or know enough to offer an endorsement or condemnation of them. But I found this interesting. Especially continuing into the comments.
