Title: HPR Ammo
Post by: RRMan03 on March 17 2013 03:05:41 PM MDT
This has probably been ask but has anybody used this ammo. If so what is the ower level? Is it worth 32.00 a box? I just do not know anything about this ammo and their site does not give a lot of info.

Have you viewed the sheet listed here in the sticky?

It's full-power. The price has escalated but what hasn't lately. If that's all available in full-power and what you want it shoots fine.

Thanks Intercooler. What I am trying to do is use low power for paper targets, some mids for practice and 1 mag of High power for practice each trip to the range. That way I do not have to buy or waste the full power stuff on paper. If you were to have to name the best low power 10mm waht do you think it is. I have tried,PPU,Remington,Federal,CCI. All the usual subjects. Not one stuck out for me. For the money the Underwood Ammo is by far and away the best bang for the buck and for the best bang period I  have to say Buffalo Bore. Opinions welcomed. I am always looking and trying to learn more to get better. It seems .60 per round is the low price point right now and its is easy to find ammo in the full power full price range. Its the practice low power 10's that are not to be found. My problem is I like to shoot and I do not reload. I would just as soon chase ammo as components. Guess I better get used to PPU for the time being. and man is it low. Advertised at 1083 and all I  have been getting is 875-925 from JHP 180gr rounds.

I think you mean bang for the buck. Currently it's PBR hands down.

Thanks Intercooler. If I can ever find any of it I will give it a try. I guess the reason for no suply is it is good. LOL Usually the worst or the most expensive is what is easy to find. All the good stuff in the middle is on everybodies watch list.

I see that this is an old thread but my post is on-point.

HPR 180gr TMJ is the first ammo I used in my new Gen 4 G20 because it was available near the gun counter where I bought the new Glock.  It is good stuff, functions 100%.  Yesterday I picked up a few boxes of their JHP in 180gr and 200gr.  These have Hornady XTP bullets.  Will report on it after I get a chance to shoot it.  Since I live near where this ammo is made, a few of the local stores carry it.  It claims to be all-American-made ammo and because the quality looks good and the prices aren't any more than other brands, it might become my go-to.  The other brand under consideration is Underwood; will be shooting some of their JHPs -- both XTP and Nosler -- soon, too.

PBR has been out of stock for a while now.

Why the mention of PBR?  To update us vis a vis the "PBR hands-down" comment above?

I was responding to Intercooler's post on it. He and I go back and forth a lot about stuff.  :P

PBR makes a decent product. It is full power though not as hot as Underwood, except for the 200 grain XTP. It is very dirty ammo though, but this is a fair trade off for the price.

I think it threw them because I made that comment back in 2013 (http://glocktalk.com/forums/images/smilies/blondmoment.gif)

I have shot 3 boxes of the HPR 180 xtp. It is full power. Not a full on a nuke but this has probably helped it run at a full 100 percent.

Yes I think the price has gone up a bit since then. Still a good value though, compared to the other offerings out there.

Just to pass on something that I thought was interesting. The Glock 10mm I bought last month came with the usual 2 rounds of fired brass for the communist states that dictate such foolish things. The brass was HPR, I just found it interesting.

I think the HPR 200 gr hornady xtp s were some of the first ammo I purchased for my 10mm it shoots clean and straight and according  to intercooler  he chronoed at 1100 fps  + and fairly  well priced, and according to hpr reps who were al LGS this week hpr is coming  out with their premium line of black out tactical ammo for the 10mm soon.
