So I found an old 13 round magazine to a XDM-45 I use to have. Out of curiosity I started stuffing 10mm rounds in it. The feed lips are a little wider but they still held the 10mm's. It held 16 instead of 15. The magazine fits in the pistol just fine and when cycled by hand the rounds feed just fine.
So....Has anyone tried to actually shoot a 10mm with a 45 magazine?
My Sig 220 10mm shoots just fine using .45 mags with 10mm ammo.
Many 10mm 1911s will run with .45 mags. Give it a try. It's not like it will hurt anything if it doesn't cycle.

Probably get a chance to do that in a couple of days. If it works it's an added plus to get one more round capacity.
My guess would be the .45 mag springs aren't as strong. Worst case scenario is the next round won't pop up in time to get picked up properly. Please let us know what the outcome is.
Double stack 45 mags don't work as well as the single stack ones mentioned above.
I have squeezed Korean glock 45 mags to use in my 10mm AR. But with pretty poor results. Don't own a XDM-10 YMMV.

The 45 springs are definitely softer.
My wife has surgery tomorrow and I'm off for three days to keep an eye on her. I'm sure I can sneak of to the range when she is sleeping.
Update
With my warm reloads the 10mm did not cycle reliably in the 45 magazine. I put a 10mm spring in the 45 magazine and the reliability got a little better but not 100%.
It's also the angle of the present at the top of the mag. Perhaps the back of the mags are different also.
Take pics of your 45 mag and your 10mm mag and inspect carefully. (Compare side by side)
