Title: Need magazines for new 10 mm.
Post by: Marchboom on October 28 2019 11:00:53 AM MDT
Just bought a Rock Island Ultra FS HC 10mm handgun. As you know it comes with only one mag. Does anyone know where to buy additional 16 rd mags without paying the confiscatory prices that Armscor wants?

Thanks.

Any P16-40 magazine will work in the gun.

The Mec-Gar ones can be had for around $25 but only hold 15 rounds.

The Triple-K mags hold 17 rounds, but are more money than the Armscor ones by a couple of bucks.  I have several of these and they work great.

I don't see why the Remington 18 round mags wouldn't work, but I am not spending $50 to find out.

I was just going to ask the same thing.  I ordered two Armscor ones from GrabaGun, but I'm going to find a Para mag and give it a try, too.

Ordered another mag from GrabaGun for $29.09. It's sacrilegious for a gun be be sold with only one mag.

I didn't use any code. That was just the price when I logged onto their site.

I did not know that!  Thanks!  I've been trying to get a couple extra magazines myself, but since the Armscors are 16 round (stated) capacity, I can't get them here in Colorado. I see scads of these for about $20 plus shipping.

Bongo Boy,

you should be aware that the Mec-Gar mags are flush fit with a standard P-16 frame, no magwell.  You will probably need to add a pad to the bottom, or be prepared to use a thumb up in the magwell to get these to seat.

i think you're saying the Mec-Gars will go in far enough to seat, but that you can't easily jam 'em up in there far enough with the usual palm slap--unless you add a pad to make 'em stick out further from the magwell.  That's okay with me.

But, I read comments from one online vendor selling these that his customers have told him the Mec-Gar P16 40 won't feed 10mm properly without modifying the lips on the mag. Have you found this to be true or have your heard of this issue?  Also, he also said that the comparable magazine manufactured by Act-Mag (?) work with both 40SW and 10mm. But even if true, that doesn't solve my problem because the ACT-MAG magazines are sold at 16 rd, which I can't get shipped here--and I haven't actually found them for sale, either.

If the feed lips on the Mec Gars have to be modified, I would assume it's a matter of shortening the front-to-back length, bringing the front edge back to allow the longer cartridge to feed up the ramp without being held down by the lips...as opposed to any 'bending' or opening up the lips--which I don't want to get into really.  Thoughts?

Hey a Bongo Boy, l have gotten 6 or 8 from advanced tactical (same as the single factory mag that comes with the Rock Ultra FS / HC 16rd 10mm) and all have worked perfectly. Unless I'm mistaken they are around $35.00 Per mag

Yes...those are the ones made by ACT-MAG and they're 16 round I think (correct?)--one too many to ship to Colorado.  :D

Been a long time since I bought my mec-gar mags.  But it does ring a bell that they had to take a trip to the bench grinder and have the lips shortened up a bit.  I will look when I get home.

I just got three of these from CDNN. The problem is that the package is marked "1911 10MM 8Rrd" but the Base Plates are inscribed .38 Super, s.s. Called CDNN yesterday, and they said package were miss-marked for 10mm. They said that they would send the correct mags.

I have always had excellent customer service with CDNN
