Hi guys. Long time no see. I missed the 10mm so I want one but budget minded.
What you think of this one?
(https://i.postimg.cc/NFs0Xr4v/411549611-1.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
I have one. No issues so far but I did replace the recoil spring with a 20#. I did find a bit of trigger bite on recoil on the bottom of the trigger finger. Nothing awful and some minor work on the trigger edge with a fine file helped. Well worth the cost in my opinion.
Thanks. I always get stronger recoil springs on my pistols, even my Beretta 9mm. They make the recoils lot better and stop slide slams.
I I were buying a Witness standard today, it would be this one. I won't ever give up my steel full-size, but man is that thing heavy.
Now I'm having doubts about getting a 10mm. WTH?
You'll love it, have that one on my list too : )
I'm sure I will but I'm thinking of getting an AR15 first. The 10mm can come later.
Considering upcoming potential legislation, that's a great choice 😊
Build or buy? (The answer is build :D)
If the decision to get an AR-15 is driven by concerns about availability down the road, one way to have both is to buy a stripped lower. This part is the actual firearm, and usually can be found on sale for under $40. Including shipping and FFL fees I paid less than $43 each for the last batch I bought.
This is especially beneficial as the low price point means you can load up on them now, and be grandfathered in without actually having decided what kinds of AR's you want.

I decided I'll get the 10mm. The AR15 can come later or maybe not LOL.
Found a good deal on LockedLoaded.com for $415. Ordered today for full size polymer model.
I ordered one of these myself.. seems like a good deal
I made a mistake of looking up reviews of the site (after I made my purchase), Lockedloaded.com. My heart sank.
Look at the 2019 reviews, very dismal. :'(

ETA: There may be a bright side on this. I have Norton Shopping Guarantee with it.
Be sure to register with Norton and copy your number for safekeeping.
Hopefully you will get one of the 4-5 star experiences.
Yeah, me too. What gets me is all that brainwash on their homepage. Top rated seller, great service yada yada yada.
I had a good experience with them so far. I have had a few emails with them and had no problems.
They say it's in shipment and got tracking no. Whew!
All looking good. My springs are now in shipment.

What springs do u buy?
20# recoil spring and +5% mag spring from Wolff.
I remember when I had my G29 10mm I put a 21# RSA in it and it was a sweetie. Handled the 40sw very well.
Let us know when u get it in. I'm tempted to get one also but I'll let you be the test subject first.
Sportsmansguide has them for 449 or 424 buyers club but they will charge tax and shipping but you'll have no problem getting your firearm shipped to you.
I am wondering if there are no problems with this model with the polymer frame?
For $77 more you can get the steel frame Witness 10mm.

Thanks for the info
Today I bear Witness! :)

Under it is my Beretta PX4 9mm. I'm surprised at how small the 10mm is. I had 2 FTF(eed) out of 25 Fenix 10mm 180 FMJs. I think the new springs will take care of it but then it probably just needs breaking in.
It shot well and pretty darn accurate. I got 4 rnds in BE and 6 rnds next to it. After that my hand got fatigued and the group got bigger. This is at 10 yards and standing two handed.
I'm happy with it. :D
Looks like they shipped it out fast. I'm tempted to get the same thing or the steel frame one.
very nice looking pistol! enjoy!
I'm not sure a stiffer magazine spring is necessary. I have to use a mag loader to load my Witness mags. its virtually impossible to get round # 14 in the mag with just fingers!
Same here. Can't get the 14th in so it's 13+1 for carry.
I just ordered the steel frame witness. $507 with shipping + another $15 from my FFL for transfer fee.

Have you got yours yet?
I did.. picked mine up yesterday and plan to shoot tomorrow. I do really like it so far, broke it down for cleaning and really like the weight and feel of it.
"Icarryone" on YouTube did a review on this one. He's a 10mm fan and has a good opinion of this pistol. I messaged him, and he said that, with a spring change, he regularly runs "full power' 10mm through it. He reloads to original Norma specs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPBNXfT36ns
The ammo I shot were Fenix ammo. 1375 fps! It really pop.
I now have a mag spring I can't use. I failed to see the "not for 10mm" part in the description. Also it's for a compact.
Anyone need one? It's the +5% spring and probably for a 9mm compact.
Hey Olgo, So you would recommend the Fenix ammo, yes?
Thanks
Ken
If you like the hot stuff. I put a 20# spring on mine but I shot em with the stock spring. Out of 25 I got two FTFeed.
Nice, Thanks Olgo, will be ordering up some soon
Ken
Mine is being shipped this week.
One thing I noticed is that Lockedloaded.com is different than Lockedandloaded.com
LOL! I didn't notice that and I was sweating over it. ;D
My steel model is coming in tomorrow. I ordered the guide rod and 20# spring from Henning and also ordered 2 boxes of Fenix 180gr FMJ ammo for it and my Sig P220 and XDM 5.2 .
I have two boxes coming also. 8)
Ordered some of the Fenix 180gr JHP Ammo, and am excited to try it, plus they have some pretty cool packaging it looks like 😀
Ken
Damn good price hey? Not watered down either. 8)
Very good price, Plus it meets UW's Velocities at 1,375 FPS 😀
Ken
Uw doesn't claim that velocity. 1250 for target loads and 1300 for hollow points both 180g.
I got my EAA Witness steel frame in today. It has the squared slide and not the round top. The trigger feels real good on it. I'm a happy camper since my buddy wouldn't let me buy back the round top Witness that he bugged me about till I sold it to him.
Right for 180gr JHP's they respectively get
Underwood
* Caliber: 10mm Auto
* Bullet Weight: 180 Grains
* Bullet Style: Hornady XTP Jacketed Hollow Point
* Case Type: Ducta-Bright 7a Nickel Plated Brass
BALLISTICS INFORMATION
* Muzzle Velocity: 1300 fps
* Muzzle Energy: 676 ft lbs
Fenix 10mm Auto 180gr FXP Hollowpoint - Velocity: 1,375 FPS
Overall Length: 1.255"
Fenix use Gold Dots for their hollow points and call em FXP.
Nice, that's what I was thinking too, Thanks Olgo!
Got my Fenix 10mm ammo and a polymer quick draw holster ($15 from Amazon). 8)
When I got the box of ammo it sounded like it has loose rounds in it. When I opened it the boxes were broken. I thought the UPS handlers were rather rough with the package. At least it was sealed well.
I got a quick draw holster from Amazon for $15. You can adjust the tension on the holster to your liking. It also has 4 height adjustments.

Thanks! Just ordered the holster
Just got back from the range. Shot a whole box and too many FTFeed. I even put the stock spring back in and it did better but still does it.
I'm going to try 40sw ammo next time.
Hey Olgo, So the Fenix 180's were problematic. I understand that's a chance we take when testing new ammo, but is still a drag. I sure hope the 3 boxes I just ordered for the RIA Ultra perform better
Thanks
Ken
Did you shoot any other brand ammo?
No I haven't. Fenix were all I had.
I'm gonna try to get out tomorrow and shoot. I have a variety of Underwood and double tap to try with both factory recall spring and 20lbs recoil spring.
Witness pistols (at least the 2 I've had) seem to be sensitive to "limp wristing". I have to really concentrate on my grip when shooting them. I thought I had it down but today I did some shooting and was disappointed with some failures to feed. :'( I even put the .40 S&W barrel in and still had some jams. >:D
Just ordered a new magazine (with the red follower). It may solve my feeding problem (so says my researches).
It seems that the red follower has a higher hump at the end so that may be it.
Let me suggest that you put only like 5-6 rounds in the mag each time and note the FTF frequency, or, alternatively when putting a full mag in the gun, note if the FTF happens more frequency in the first few rounds that otherwise.
Pick up some +5% mag springs:

Look at the link again. Read the description. I ordered one without seeing the bolded line.
They work fine in my 10mm's. Hope you have the same result.
sqlbullet, thanks for the info! 8) I ordered a 3 pack of each weight springs.
I shot some Fenix 180gr FMJ in my Witness steel 10mm and my XDM 5.2 and they both had no problems with feeding and firing.
Next up is my Sig P220 Elite 10mm.
They seem to work fine and definitely feel like more power than the Sig 180gr fmj loads.
I put a 20#spring in the Witness and the Henning guide rod.
My new mag came in today. I can see the difference in the followers. It's made by EAA and considered a replacement mag for the pistol.
I'll head to the range tomorrow and see how it goes. Old left, new right.

Didn't do any better. I guess it takes time to break in. Also the new mag doesn't hold the slide open.
I give up. :'(
I'm about ready to try it out with the 40sw ammo. ::)
(https://i.postimg.cc/fWPb8XHG/IMG-20191117-124505.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/Z0rZR9zH)
Sent a note to EAA site about the FTFs and they replied that they want pics of the mags. I sent 6 pics of two mags I have.
Then I went to the range to shoot the 40sw ammo. Shot a lot better but still had a few FTFs. I noticed that sometimes the rounds are straight to the chamber but not going to battery. When I pulled the mag out it went to battery.
It seems that the mags are a bit too tall that the slide catches on it.
When I got home EAA wanted me to send in the mags or they can send me a follower. They said an attachment is included for me to fill out but it's not there. I just replied to send me the follower. I doubt that'll work though.
Anyway here the damage from 50 rounds of Champ Aluminum 40sw 180s. 10 yards.

Finally got mine out this morning, fired 50rds or so. Shot Underwood 200gr FMJ and Doubletap 200gr HC. I had 0 issues with the underwood but 2 separate issues with the DT 200gr HC. Both times the rds failed to properly chamber. Feel this is ammo issue, UW is higher velocity and had 0 issues. OAL and wide frontal area on the DT would be my first guess.
Overall had a good trip.
Got the new follower and it's different. May do the trick. Don't know when I'll go to the range, probably not til next month.
Here's the pics, new on left old (came with gun) on right.

My EAA Witness P 10mm ready for duty sir! :D
Yep, it was the follower. The one EAA sent worked without a hitch, both 10mm and 40sw. Even it sounded different. Before it was Snick... Snack now it's Zip every time.
Now I'm going to order another follower like it for my other magazine.

I have a box of Winchester USA 40sw 180 Personal Protection that I'll use for carry in my Witness. This is the budget ammo that performs well.
Check out this guy's video. Guess how many times he said economical. LOL:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBi9t7S0Fpg
today I put 5% mag. springs in my 3 Witness mags. I had to alter the bottom of the spring to fit (best I could) around the base pad. even using a mag loader, getting 14 rounds in the mags was areal pain! one mag consistently dented the brass. hopefully I will get to shoot them tomorrow. if it does help my problem, I will probably only load 13 rds. in them.
I was wrong. I only can get 12 in. The new follower is taller.
Went to the range today. Had FTFs. I give up. I'll stick to my Beretta 9mm for carry.
I tried my magazines with both the 5% and 10% springs. it didn't help much. still had some failures to feed but it did seem a little better. :( I left the 10% springs in the mags for now. I can only get 13 rds. in the mags with either set of + power springs. when I get a chance, I will do some more experimenting.
It looks like the cartridge is lined up to the chamber very closely but I noticed that the mag flops around in the grip.
Did some work and made the mag snug. Maybe it's work this time. 8)

(https://i.postimg.cc/RhqWwKZm/IMG-20191130-184946.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/SYFQhX91)
The ramp does look steep though.
One other wonky thing I just remembered. I have to keep my witness mags topped off. If I store one not loaded, it will FTF at the range. The ones I keep loaded 24/7 always run 100%. Could just be mine, but I have five or six of them. Mine are the older red-follower models that the internet says are terrible.
The tape trick worked. It made the mag straight and snug and I didn't have FTFs with the Fenix 10mm 180 FXPs and Win 40sw 180 PPs. Also with some Federal 40sw 180 Aluminums.
I only have one unusual problem. Sometimes the rounds didn't chamber all the way to battery. It seems that the stock recoil spring is too weak. The rounds can be half way in the chamber and it needed a nudge to go in battery.
The 20# spring I got from Wolff could solve that problem easily but it's a bit stiff for me to rack. There's not much slide to grip due to the design. I'll just order the spring that's the next step up from stock.
ETA: just ordered a 16# recoil spring. a 2# bump up from stock.
I'm still having FTFs so I contacted EAA and found out I have to pay shipping both ways for them to look at it.
What a joke. I'm sorry I bought this POS.
I like mine....
(One is 10mm, the other .45 ACP)
