Gearing up for a second knee replacement surgery on the 29th. I'm not looking forward to missing the annual whitetail hunt, but hey, between the lack of pain, some time off work, and the time to hang out with my wife / work up some new loads, I'll take it; I / we serve an amazing God : )
Ken
Ken wishing you all the best... I am about due to have replacement but I keep pushing past the pain...
Thanks Wade, I told my wife, no new knee this year, she said, yes, yes you will, the years deductible has been met from the first knee last January , hence it's free...Can't really argue much at that point, + she's tired of my fussing 😩
Jeez Ken, have them fix it right. Just have them weld some skates to your knees and call it good. Just think of how fast you could move then! Hope it all goes well for you. And look at the bright side, at least it isn't your trigger finger.
Hope you recover soon man.
Wish you well on proceedure and wish a quick rewarding recovery. Most people I know who have had one wish they'd done it sooner. Fortunately my knees are the only things that work well anymore.
Good luck!
About a year ago I was steered to a great deal on a bunch of reloading gear. The seller was a Vietnam Vet who spent some time with some spec ops guys doing things that didn't make the news. He had just had a knee replacement and i asked how it was going. His response "I have been shot three times, and this hurts worse than all three together".
Here's hoping your's goes better!
Thanks guys! the first knee came out awesome, and yes, can be very painful... just thankful for strong pain medication : )
Ken
Kenk.... congrat's. It will be a new life for you. It was for me. All the better that you have met the deductible.
God's blessings, get well, and don't come down with kneesles! :P
Good luck. Had my l. knee replaced about 4 yrs ago and am holding my breath on my r knee. So far so good. Hope things go well for you.
Two of my biggest struggles with this whole thing is 1. My PT guy from the first knee is just a hard ass (and he totally enjoys it : ), but probably is the best thing for overall mobility and the best results, and 2. That for 4 or 5 days after running out of the awesome pain meds, it's just awful, it really makes me glad I'm not taking that crap for fun. Lastly, my manager is a total asswagan, sure glad to have some time away 😀😀😀
Thank you all for your kind words and support
Ken
I had my right knee done in November of 2017 and the left in March of 2018. I waited 4 years too long.
The first went real good, much better than I thought. I had it done on a Thursday night and I was home by myself on Saturday morning taking care of myself and my dog.
The second went even better. Again , surgery on Thursday night, home Saturday morning taking care of myself. I even drove myself to get the meds on Saturday afternoon as my insurance screwed me around.
My Physical Therapist said she knew I would not have much trouble as my pain before the surgery was probably worse than the surgical pain.
Thanks Beemer!
Ken
I need to get my left one done in two years, hope your experience is good and you heal well.
Thanks Bunny, the first one went great. Just an FYI, search long and hard for the best surgeon in your area, it will be well worth the your time
Ken
Good luck to both of you on your replacement. Mine went way better than I thought and I wish I had not waited so long.
The only person who told me that I would have no trouble going home and taking care of myself was my surgeon and I listened to him and he was right.
Well, the surgery is the complete. I just wish the heavyhitter meds prescribed would do their job a bit better
Thanks for all of the Prayers!
Ken
Now they just need to write me a prescription for it 😂

Blessings and may your recovery be faster than a 135-grain 10mm at full tilt!
Thanks Captain O,
Let's see, Muzzle Velocity: 1600 fps
/ 767 ft lbs; that's really fast, Lol, just ordered two more boxes of UW's fast healing medication today 😀

What are they giving you for pain? They gave me Percocet. That is 10 milligrams of oxycodone and 650 milligrams of acetaminophen every 4 hours. It would last 3 hours and you had to bear with it the last hour. I took it for 7 days and then half that much for 2 days and then went to straight Ibuprofren.
My Lady friend's Sister-in-law had both of hers replaced on the 31st and is doing great it sounds like. My Doctor would not do two at the same time, he had too many problems when they did.
Evening Beemer,
For my 2.5 day stay in the hospital, it was percocet (not sure on the MG's), a Dilaudid IV (awesome stuff), and Morphine Sulfate. Once I went home, it has been primarily percocet and Morphine Pills / a stool softener : ), I'm a little concerned that they may try and cut me off prematurely do to the opioid crisis in this country, but my recent knee is doing awesome so far. Between the pain and bruising, I just want it to be done
