Title: New 10mm XDM 4.5 came home with me.
Post by: Graybeard on October 13 2019 10:24:25 AM MDT
I ran about 120 rounds through it yesterday, from mild to wild. It ran perfectly. It does seem to have pretty fast slide speed with the hotter stuff. Trigger could stand some improvement, though not terrible. I really like the grip, only slightly larger than my M&P 9.

Anyone have any thoughts on reducing slide speed on this? I did a side by side comparison with my Kimber TLE II 10mm at the range. The Kimber seemed, to me, to recoil less and cycle much more smoothly. Considering the price and design differences that isn't a huge surprise.

Wolff spring kit for the same length XD 45 works in the 10mm. I am happy with the 20lb recoil spring.

This has been on my list of next 10s to get--I've heard quite a bit of happiness with it. I'm wondering how you got along with the grip--I've never fired any XDM, and have always wondered if the grip is hard on the hands or no. Congratulations!

Actually, the grip is one of the reasons I bought it. I prefer the grip angle and size over the G20/40. The raised areas, not really stippling, are just about perfect. It doesn't slip around at all with hot ammo and doesn't chew up my hand either.

The trigger is really the biggest issue and that wasn't enough to put me off purchasing this. Considering the cost of this gun a little money to rectify the trigger is no big deal.

I also have the 4.5" XDM. I put a 22 pound Wolff spring in it, and it seems to have tamed the slide quite a bit. It can still shoot light loads, but the maxed out loads don't send the brass into the next state any more. It still tosses it a ways, but not like before.

Thanks, I am going to order the 20 and 22 pound springs and try them out.
