Has anybody body shot 100 plus of the 180gr JHP round of this ammo? If so is it a decent round. I know it is way under power but mainly how many FTF's out of 100, how dirty is the powder compared to UNC or Federal AE. How hard is the primer? Mainly just looking for a range report but not a chrony report as we all know its less than 1000fps. I am mainly more worried about the dirty powder part. Also is this JHP worth a crap or does it come apart like most cheap ammo JHP's?
RRMan03, I can not attest to that...Why? I mostly use my handloads with careful selection of components to develop my rounds to fit all the aspects you ask about.
PPU is using various powders for their commercial loadings, most are not truly positive ID's because they are based in Serbia, and may use non-canister grades or blends of powders not available to handloaders. This makes ID a little tougher. However, by visual inspection and charge weights measures vs. performance, it is possible to place that powder in a performance range of other know powders that yield very similar velocities.
About that bullet's performance, Intercooler has sent some to Raggedyman for gel testing so be on the look out for that bullet's performance as tested.
He will be looking at the expansion and to see if it sheds it's jacket or fragments. Most HP's work with in a range of velocities. With that said, it is possible to be under or over the performance envelope of its design. Those of us that seek the extra speed or horsepower, need to work inside of the performance criteria... ???
I haven't used it either.
But, based on this thread (http://10mm-firearms.com/factory-10mm-ammo/gunshow-bulk-ammo/) I would expect it to be dirty, but ok otherwise.
To be clear, the bullet performs very poorly at the loaded velocity. I'll be pulling bullets and loading them to moderate 10mm velocity to see how they would work if they were actually 10mm. To say the PPU load is weak is like saying an aircraft carrier is big. The ones I tested were slower than .40 S&W in the same weight.
Raggedyman, I wanted to say thanks for your work with the all the gel testing, I sometimes get so wrapped up in my stuff, I forget to take time out to give thanks to those of you behind the scenes...
I do understand the cost and time need to prepare, setup and conduct the testing and then put all the information out there for us to have the visual eye candy of your results and hard work...
Thanks and best regards!
Their dirty as is their .40 and .45 that i shoot. My Compact 10 does not feed good with them due to mags with red follower in Compact for whatever reason.Glock and Match with K10's work fine.Recoil nothing.
Yup thanks again for the gel testing! At one point I was going to buy the stuff to do it, but I know how much work it is and you were setup doing them already. Just made sense to send the ammo so it could be done by one person for all of them. You have done a great job and can't wait to see all the different ones you have there in video!
Thanks, guys. It's my pleasure.
ETA: Just got the last batch of rounds, Intercooler.
I botched a 12 ga wax slug test yesterday. Failed to record the video from it. ??? Derp. I'll probably just tack on the pics and data from that test to another 12 ga wax slug test. Also did another Hillbilly body armor test, which I posted. Melted everything down and cast into a few smaller blocks so if things go right, I ought to be able to knock out four or more 10mm tests next time out.
