I have a Glock 40 Gen 4 on order. It'll be a holstered sidearm for hiking, fishing and camping. Concealed carry isn't an issue for this. I planning on getting a KKM 7" threaded barrel. Now I'm wondering if I can do a 10mm magnum conversion to get the most out of the longer barrel. I know Double Tap carries ammo.
Is it possible to convert a Glock 40 to 10mm magnum? If so, where do I start? Do I have KKM chamber the new barrel to magnum dimensions? How do I know what recoil spring to upgrade to? Will empty magnum cases eject stock 40 ejection port?
Any help is much appreciated.
Magazine is too short for the 10mm Magnum cartridge, the action will not cycle that far either...
Standard 10mm Auto is 1.260" long and the 10mm Mag cartridge is way long! See this info...

Thanks for the help. I didn't consider the magazine fitment. That could've saved me time thinking about it.
But... the pressure. Will the Glock, with the best supported barrel made, take 40,000 psi/cup?
Yes it can! SAAMI specs... http://10mm-firearms.com/factory-10mm-ammo/10mm-ammo-history/msg1893/#msg1893 (http://10mm-firearms.com/factory-10mm-ammo/10mm-ammo-history/msg1893/#msg1893)
I would add this tidbit:
https://glockcollector.info/2017/08/26/roll-marks-on-slides-andor-frames/
The author states that all glocks are tested with 120% proof loads. For 10mm Auto that would be a 45,000 PSI load.
Also note that 10mm Auto and 10mm Magnum are PSI not CUP
As far as I know, only AMT made guns in 10mm Magnum and they didn't make many. I also made a 10mm Magnum M1 Carbine many years ago.

With the way that 10mm is taking off and growing, who knows ... maybe the 10 Mag will rise again.
I have emailed Coonan Arms about this-their .357 semi is more than long/strong enough to chamber the 10mm Mag.
Sam
I have messaged them too with no response
Coonan has ceased operations until new financing can be arranged.
It has been shut down for nearly a year, does not sound promising.
Well those of us who are old enough to relate to the original rise of the 10mm Auto guns (the Bren Ten guns are 36 years old) and cartridge have done their best to keep the drive alive. The younger groups that have found the cartridge and guns (many new offerings) have a lot to choose from.
We all need to be mindful of the elections as the rights of gun ownership are under constant attack. We are likely only one election cycle away from the erosion of the Second Amendment all together... Many states have placed gun companies in difficult positions and several older companies have had to relocate to more gun friendly states.
I had contacted Coonan yeas ago about the possibility of the 10mm Magnum. Sad to hear of Coonan's shut down, but the gun industry is being slapped every time they try to get ahead...
I would love to see a DE barrel and magazine in 10mm mag. The 357 Mag bolt should work as I don't think .015" is gonna be an issue. Should be plenty of gas to run it since 357 can. COAL would be a + in that platform since you could load a bit long.
Y'know...if ANY company might actually do this (10mm Magnum)...it'd probably be...Glock! Maybe we all need to be contacting them.
Sam
Glock doesn't have a base platform with a magwell large enough to work with the case. That would make this a big engineering expense for them. DE and Automag do, and already have a breechface that is close enough. That makes those just a barrel.
I sent Magnum Research an email asking them about doing a 10mm magnum Desert eagle and their reply was they are coming out with a 10MM 1911

Man, everybody makes a 10mm 1911; a 10 mm Magnum is what would set Desert Eagle apart.

A 10mm Auto Mag Cartridge would make more sense in the Auto Mag. This would be based on the 44 AMP case.
How about a 10mm Wildey Magnum based one the 475 Wildey Magnum case.
Brass is readily available for both.
