I was looking for something to reload so was going through one of the safes when I came across a Springfield XD 9 I didn't know anything about. It had a custom kydex holster I would have had made by my guy so I knew it was mine. Didn't remember getting it or anything about shooting it or anything. The next day I looked closer and found it to be be a kit with holster, 2 loaders, and a twin mag holder arrangement. This tipped me off as to when I got it and where etc. Boy this getting old is getting on my nerves. ;D Craig
Just wait till you forget the safe combo ! :)
Gettin' old ain't for sissies. I'm only gonna do this once. :))
Forget safe combo's? Ah they are in several places in the computer and hidden on slips of paper and I leave them unlocked as a backup!!! Craig ;D :P
OK shot the XD 9 today and it was sweet! Shot 115 jhp and 124 jhp with no difference. Really enjoyed shooting this gun. One side note is since I passed my NRA pistol instructor certification I have shot better and better!! Passed the shooting with a S&W 5906 but lately a Sig 320 with the Romeo site has improved my shooting in general so shooting any gun I see improvement over my earlier attempts!!!! BTW finding this Springfield XD 9 is like someone giving you a gun!! Ha Ha! Craig
I picked up a XDm 4.5 / 9 a few months back, and really like mine too, it's like no work at all compared to shooting the 10's 😀
Hey Kenk. I like all my tens but like to shoot all my 9mm as well. I like the power of the 10's but not for long shooting bouts. The 9mm you can shoot all day with no problem. I have a lot of 9's as I was always looking for the right carry gun. Still looking for that but like the 9's for target and defense so far. Reloading is nice as you can adjust for carry gun weights as needed. By that I mean adjust the reload for a lighter round for a very light gun for example. Craig
Afternoon Craig, I have carried a .45 auto for a long time, unless I venture into the city or woods. For city carry as of late, Underwood's 165 grainers foot the bill in the RIA Ultra FS HC, and for woods, UW's 220 hard cast. Black bears are few and far between in our parts, but do show up on occasion. Out in our small community, aprx 4000 folks, the 20rd XDm 9 stoked with some HST, or Gold Dots seems more than ample. After a recent knee replacement, and another coming soon, running away to to save my a** isn't an option, plus we don't have stand your ground in Minnesota, so preparedness is my best option
Have a great weekend
Ken
Shot the Springfield XD 9 today with very shaky loads I am trying to get rid of the bod ones. These were 100g frangible rounds I have been playing with for a couple years or so. They shoot great but jam more often than I like. The cases get a bulge in them and the round refuses to feed and jams. I fixed these but have a few bad ones I am trying to get rid of!! Was in a 10"circle at 60'or so so I am cool with the round. Shot some other JHP no problem. My range owner's brother put some concrete rubble in a ditch going out to the range but screwed it up so I will have to get the backhoe out there to fix it. Craig
...been there one that....
Last December was going hunting and went into the safe for one of the two S&W 60-10 3" .357s I have for a backup gun... Pulled one of them out and thought to myself, why are the Uncle Mike's grips on here...I always have the Pachmayer Compacts on these....
So I get down to deer camp and go to load the gun with .357s...and they won't go in...because the gun I grabbed was a 60-4 .38 Special Target....
Only problem is I have no clue where the gun came from... I had one many years ago that I bought from a friend's mother but sold after I found the second 60-10... Thought about it long and hard and can only slightly remember having come across the gun in a local shop for a good price and bought it, stored it and never shot it....
Bob
Yeah I end up buying a few guns just because off the price you can't pass it up. Problem is I don't ever seem to sell them so they sit. Really I am only talking about a few guns as I do buy stuff I do shoot. This Springfield is strange as I do love it and have shot it more than other guns lately. It's now in the top 3 or 4 of the 9mm favorites. :D Craig
Gotta love the old plain jane xd9 service. I bought one long ago. Liked it. Added a powder river trigger and loved it. Picked up an xdm a year or 2 later at it was a good gun but i always shot the xd better. Put a light on it and it lives in the dresser now. Its nothing special. I have much nicer guns in the safe but over many 1000s of rounds it has NEVER failed to go bang.
Well I know what you are saying!! I am now comparing the XD 9 to my Sig Sauer P320 or my STI International or my high power. Enough said. Craig
My little brother who suffers from CRS (can't remember shi*) says it's the best thing that's ever happened to him. Once a month he goes to the gun vault and says it's just like Christmas finding all of the stuff in there. Getting old is a matter of perspective.
