Title: 220G bullets
Post by: cwlongshot on May 29 2019 09:13:56 AM MDT
Anyone loading them?

I picked up a hundred from GT Bullets to try. My buddy has been buying some form them to try and he is getting VERY consistent expansion right at 11-1200 fps @ 1400 the expanded part reps off and leaves just the base slug.

I have a 220G deep HP that I would like to see hit 1050-1100 fps. From a 6" bbl G20.

Any suggestions?

The heaviest I load is my cast powder coated LBT WFNGC. Those weigh 209 gr. Properly motivated by a charge of Accurate No. 9, they go a bit over 1200 fps from the 4.6" G20.

I imagine that a large HP profile will put the base deeper into the case, but you likely can get enough #9 in there to meet your velocity target with the 6" tube. My 209 cast loads use 13ish grains, so for the longer heavier HP, I'd probably start around 11 grains of No. 9 and work up or down.
