Title: NEW 10mm EAA
Post by: will965 on April 23 2019 09:38:14 PM MDT
Well Gang,

I finally got one. I've had my LGS looking for a Witness Steel Compact for a while now and almost forgot about it. Well he called up and said he had one of 12 on hold that his distributor just got in and do i still want it?? Hell yes.....Picked her up yesterday and already had a set of lava grips(FDE) waiting by the time i got her. Put the grips on, wow what a sharp looking pistol! So, off to the range i went today. I figured i would see what ammo she liked and what she didnt, after hearing all the stories about some issues with reliability, i figured i could try to fix about anything. First 3 mag3 were Remington RNFP to warm her up, shot great, no issues. i progressed through some other ammo like Fed 190g JHP, Sig rnfp, couple mags of silver tips, 3 mags of Corbon 155 copper hps(warm) and a mag of Underwood 180 HP(hot).....well, she ran like a sewing machine, not one hiccup!!!!I,m thrilled, she ate everything and asked for more, i didn't stretch her out any but 7 yards was one ragged hole! what a great gun. Really makes me want a full size witness even more. And weird thing but it kicks less than my XDM-10! weight i guess. only thing that made me mad as hell is it only shipped with 1, yes ONE, mag...wtf. so now i gotta hunt for a couple mags and get a holster because she is now definitely on the compact carry list! Now i got to look harder at the Stock III or the Match... ;D

Congrats, good to hear!  Can't go wrong with EAA in 10mm.  Been considering getting one myself.

congratulations! I have a full sized steel Witness and love it. I had another one that was bought as few years ago and it had some problems. both mechanically & reliability. the frame cracked and EAA replaced it. the new one they sent me is a MUCH better pistol! its a better shooter and reliable. 8) I think Tanfoligio must have had some poor quality control in the past but got it straightened out.

My edc is an XDM-10, with silvertips and an extra mag with Fed trophy match(for critters)..hearing bad things about silvertips lately i may try more 180g bonded JHP(i love bonded rounds) or 200g XTP underwood in this new guy. REDLINE, stop considering-get one...I think im going to start saving for a Stock III now as this little witness outshot my XDM.. ;D

Blaster, i think i read somewhere that they changed the witness a bit, some with rounded slides or squared off ones...one is newer version, maybe one of the others will step in and give the correct info. Supposed to be a much better slide now.

will965;
The Stock II has my attention. As for Silvertips, I lost faith in them a long time ago because too often they don't expand. XTP and Gold Dot bullets I've found to be far more reliable.

underwood has a 180g bonded gold dot i think I'm going to order, give them a try. seems like the best of all worlds. may be all i carry instead of two mags, one for rural critters(deer on the road, skunks and yotes) and one for lets say urban critters. I think the bonded 180 gold dots may cover all bases

ALSO,

anyone know if the full size witness mags(14 or 15rd) will fit the compact? im sure it will stick out of the bottom, but would be nice as a backup mag...like a glock 1 mag in a glock 19 or 26???

Yes, the longer mags will work fine.

ok gang i think that is bout the best i can do, if i try to put the picture its 500% too big.......also, the second pic EAA was lonely so i threw in my edc XDM-10 and some tasty cigars..didnt have anything else cool like a good bottle or knife here at work, so the stogies will have to do.!

thanks
