Title: Nighthawk Talon 10mm
Post by: claimbuster on March 08 2013 10:52:36 PM MST
This Talon hit a dealers shelves and I knew it wouldn't last long.  Had wanted one for quite a while so I didn't have to do much thinking, just had to figure out where the money was coming from.

It's a 5" bobtail with all black nitride finish.  Replaced the OEM grips, which are UGLY with this set from Sarge.  I've had it about six weeks now and put about 800 +/- rounds through it.  So far it is doing really well.  A strong load of AA9 under a 180gr. HP/XTP seems to be the right combination.

This is my third 10mm, I had a Kimber SS Target and a DW C-Bob that both have been sold.  I think this is a keeper.  Pondering getting a Guide's Choice Chest Holster for it.  That would make it an ideal hiking and fishing combination.

It's a very nice looking piece.  What does Nighthawk use for the black finish?  Does the slide carry more weight in the 10mm version over what is commonly used in a dedicated 45 Auto version?

In his post he indicated this was Black Nitride, which is H&M Metals version of ferritic nitrocarburizing. Basically it is the same as Tenifer, but by a different company.  Should be very durable.

Thanks for pointing that out.  I guess I was so engrossed in the pic that I missed it.
