Was thinking of another pistol but the FFL fee plus spent shell case firing for a new all total puts me at $100. Seems kind of crazy anymore!
This was posted over at the Bren Ten Forum...it would be nice to see some CZ 10mm guns come to market...

I would like to see an H&K USP in 10mm.
Im actually looking to obtain the .45 97 and as soon as i pull the trigger, boom,an up and coming 10mm. :-\
My Match I bought new but had to do the spent shell case. It's kind of a pain in the butt plus costs more to get one that route. I had my eye on that Limited Pro but quickly a $800 gun turned into a over $900 piece :o
What is spent shell case firing? And how does it cost money toward the purchase of a new gun?
Yes, please elaborate on the spent shell case fee....or whatever you're calling it.
It's a stupid thing that MD requires, which to this day nobody knows if it solves anything (remember crooks don't register). Most new guns ship with a fired spent shell case except some. All the Witness guns don't, so you have to take them a round (or pay for a box) and they charge $30 to fire it. Then it is another $10 for MD to process it and many of the gun stores charge you another $15-$20 for a bore lock. On top of that $30-$50 for the FFL transfer fee.
Now if you buy a used or certain date gun before it was enacted (my 1006 was NIB but didn't require it) then it's skipped except the transfer fee. I don't know what part of the brass it gets an ID from but people say you can scratch the inside after or maybe change the barrel and all that is out the window. Just a money extraction IMO!
That sounds worse than even NJ. :o
Wow. Have you considered moving? That's just hard to comprehend. I had no idea such a law existed. How long have they been putting you through that?
FFL transfer fees are a total CROCK! EVERY firearm that they take in REQUIRES THE LOGGING IN OF THAT GUN!
Now I understand the fee, if you have paid someone else for the firearm and had it shipped to your local dealer to simply do the paper work. BUT If the dealer gets you the gun and your buying it from him, he is taking advantage of you!!

NY as you all know is one of the worst states for gun owners but it is my home...that said we had a program noted as COBIS which required the same spent casing to identify pistols that were used in crimes. After thousands of dollars and no benefit shown believe or not NY decided to dump the program. Unfortunately for us at that time we had to mail off our guns to the state troopers to do the testing and turn around was 2-4 weeks on top of the added cost. I am glad it is done but I would take it back in a heartbeat if we didn't have this new SAFE act in place.
An interesting quick read about it is here: http://www.ocshooters.com/Reports/cobis/cobis.htm (http://www.ocshooters.com/Reports/cobis/cobis.htm)

I would like to see an H&K USP in 10mm.
That would be cool... especially if they designed it with configurable grip panels and safety/decocker like the HK45!
I would also like to see a Sig 226 and 229 in 10mm...
Intercooler, we have lots of space for you out here in the mountain west.
Or Penna. The Demoncrats are always puttin up a fuss, but anyone who knows Pa knows Philly D's and Pittsburgh City and some scattered Blue areas cannot control their areas with strict laws,so everyone has to be apart of their failure to rein in.However,Penna is guns and religion so far.As far as the Peoples Republic of NJ,nuff said.My Spring/Fall Stripe Bass fishing go to Delaware for now on.
I gotta drive at least 8 hours to hit anything remotely "blue" by national standards. Technically my US rep is "blue" but he would be a hard red in New York or PA.
